Teresa McKenna Obituary

Teresa Anne McKenna May 16,1955 - October 21, 2010 Teresa McKenna was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the second of four daughters to James McKenna and Kathy Yates. She was active in journalism throughout her high school years, and was an outstanding student. Teresa went on to start her college education at the University of Tulsa. Teresa took a break from school to raise her two children, daughter Tiffany, and son Alex James, as her family was most important to her. Teresa was a devoted mother. She was a room mom, girl scout leader, and her children's biggest cheerleader and supporter. She later continued and finished her education at Cal State Bakersfield. She graduated with honors with a degree in Liberal Studies and continued on to receive her teaching credential. Teresa always knew she wanted to teach. She cared deeply for her students and peers and truly had an impact on every one she came in contact with. In her free time she loved spending time with her very first grandchild, Catalina. She was a loving mother and grandmother and someone that her kids strive to be like. On top of being a loving mother and caring teacher she had a special place in her heart for her pets. She was an avid animal lover who never turned away a pet in need of a home. Truly a woman with a heart of gold, a loyal friend, and someone who truly made a difference in people's lives. An angel has gained her wings. To our angel....you are on our minds every second of everyday and will always be in our hearts. We love you mom!! A service to celebrate the life of Teresa McKenna will be held on October 27th at 10am at Hillcrest Memorial. The viewing for Teresa will be On Tuesday October 26th from 4:00-7:00p.m. also at Hillcrest. www.bakersfield.com/obits

Tiff and Lini... we love you so very much and cherish your friendship. Losing someone so dear is never an easy thing... but we know that she is looking down on you in awe of everything you have become. She is now free of pain and full of happiness. I only had the privilege of meeting her once

Mama T was my second mom and will always be in my heart. I am just so blessed to have known her. Mama T was an amazing woman who was full of love, wit, charm, beauty (inside and out), sarcasm ;), and heart of gold! Although we lost such an extraordinary woman we can see her so many of the wonderful things she was in the people Tiffany and Aj became. I love you all so much and will be here for you always! xoxo Sarah O.

Tiffany, AJ and family. I had the pleasure of working with your mom in Arvin. She was such a great person. She always had wise words to say and a smile to warm my heart. She will be greatly missed by everyone most of all her students whom she cared for.

Tiffany, AJ, Catalina and family.
I had the pleasure of knowing Teresa as a neighbor and observed how much she loved her kids and how she cared about their future. She was an intelligent caring Mom and Grandma. I always admired her for returning to college, earning her Teaching Degree, and inspiring her children, and the children she taught. I always enjoyed visiting and laughing with her about her college days in Oklahoma and her early years. I know Teresa is in Heaven now visiting and praising God with my Dave, a fellow Oklahoma native. My love to her family, Marilyn Young

Tiffany, AJ, and Family- I am so sorry for your (our) loss. Your mom is a great person, and as it says above she had a heart of gold. I have many great memories of working with her. She always talked lovingly about you two and was always concerned for you wellbeing. I believe the kids of Arvin have just lost one of their biggest cheerleaders! I'm sure there will be times we can feel her loving presence. You are in my prayers.

I feel so Blessed because of Tiffany and Jamie being best friends our paths in life crossed. Your smile lite up the room and your laugh was contagious. Your heart was pure Gold and the love you had for others is something we all should strive to have more of. You are in the arms of Jesus with no more pain but so many hearts hurt because you are so missed already. May the example of how you lead your life be a guide for us to follow.
Tiff and Aj my heart breaks for you both-May you feel the love of Gods arms around you.

Teresa was a mother and a role model to many. Her heart was so big and her smile so inviting. I have had the privilege of knowing Tiffany since I was about 14 no sonner were we hooked to eachother's hips was I callin' Teresa MOM. During her last weeks I was able to spend some time with her. We talked laughed and recalled many memories. And in those moments she would express her joy and love for Tiff and Aj and occasionally we would hear CJ's lil foot steps down the hall, Teresa would pause and her eyes would brighten! Mom never did anything half way. When she loved and cared for something you got all of her. I would giggle everytime I stopped by during a neighborhood walk and a new dog would greet me at the door. She would smile. I found it in the costco parking lot, or when a stray cat had kittens under her car. Oh the animals she loved. LU Dog had her heart! and made you the most nervous to be around. Having her in my life was like being spoiled with one of Christ's greatest accomplishments. She walked this earth very shortly and her last weeks we began to see only one set of foot steps it was then that we knew Christ was preparing a place for her. But we weren't ready, many of us fought and cried. Many of us were in and are in denial. Her life was so short; yet so well lived. As we fall to our knees to worship the Lord and fall to our knees to greive for you mom. Please know that we know you are pain free, but that doesn't stop the on going void we are tryin to cope with.

Sending all my love, may your Halo always shine the brightest when I look to the sky.
