Bessie Dieffenbach Obituary
Bessie M. Dieffenbach, 93, of Mesa, Ariz., born April 11, 1916, in East St. Louis, Ill., died April 21, 2009.
Before retiring, Mrs. Dieffenbach was human resources director and fashion coordinator for a VA department store chain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert C. Dieffenbach; her son, Walter A. Dieffenbach Sr.; and her parents, Anna Fierce Meldrum, and Fred Wesley Meldrum.
Surviving are her daughter, Gail D. (Donald) Slusar Sr., of Mesa, Ariz.; grandsons Benjamin R. O'Master of Boulder, Colo., and Walter A. (Betty) Dieffenbach, Jr., of Sylacauga, Ala.; four great-granddaughters; and nephews, nieces and extended family.
Donations may be made to Banner Hospice, 1325 N. Fiesta Blvd., Suite 1, Gilbert, Ariz. 85233, or AZ Humane Society, Phoenix, Ariz.
Funeral: Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, Ill.

I was pastor at Salem Presbyterian and Bess helped two of my daughters learn the world of work at MIller and Rhoads. We cherish many memories of our conversations and visits at church.
