I served with Captain Smith on board the Wilkinson in the 60's. Just learned of his passing. I found him to be a first class officer and a gentleman. I will be at the DLA reunion in Galveston and hope some of the Captain's family will be in attendance.

Matt & Linda Wilson

March 12, 2012

It's easy to describe the relationship between Bob and my father Jim Wilson. Easy and breezy.

They respected each other's minds; Bob, according to my dad, was one of the smartest men on the planet. They maintained a letter writing history of close to 50-years. They helped each other through loss, and welcomed new additions at each milestone.

Linda and I had the great fortune to visit Bob and Winnie in Florida and hoist a few at the restaurant next to their lovely condo. He was besotted with Winnie. He loved his family deeply and filled any empty moment with great anecdotes of children, their loves and interests, and (of course) grandchildren.

We will miss you Bob. It's the end of an era. My father died last January; Bob and dad were classmates together at the United States Naval Academy -- class of '47, Best on the Severn. Beat Army!
