MICHAEL DENNIS HAMILTON Apr. 26, 1953 Mar. 14, 2014 Mike was a colorful character to all who knew him. Sadly, he passed away from a short illness at Enloe Hospital. Throughout his career he held several jobs, but his favorite was having his local history show on KHSL television station for many years. Mike's passion was telling and teaching the history of Chico, Butte County, and General Bidwell. He was raised in Michigan and attended General Motors Institute and University of Michigan. He moved to California where he settled in Chico in 1978. It was here that he played Santa Claus at a local flower shop for 18 seasons, hiked every surrounding mountain, and studied local history between various carpentry jobs. His distinctive voice had also earned him a job on local radio stations. He was very fortunate to be surrounded by many close friends. He is survived by his sister Kathy (Lloyd) Kilbreath of Durand MI, sister Janet (Mike) Gerding of Saline, MI, brother Pat (Gail) Hamilton of Tampa, FL, brother Ted Hamilton (Becky Bashore) of Durand, MI, brother Jim Hamilton (Marcia Bowers) of Owosso, MI, sister Marcia Basler of Warren, MI, many nieces and nephews, and good friend Vicki Mall of Santa Rosa, CA. He was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Geraldine Hamilton. In lieu of services, please make a donation to Butte County's Humane Society in memory of Mike Hamilton.
