Peter Jenks Obituary

A wonderful husband and father passed away October 1, 24 days shy of his 80th birthday. Peter G. Jenks was born in Dayton, Ohio on October 25, 1930 to W.L. and Anastasia Ahern Jenks. He served his country as a Marine during the Korean War and attended the University of Dayton where he received a BS in mechanical engineering. He came to California in 1956 and began his engineering career at Hughes Aircraft Company, retiring as an assistant laboratory manager in 1989. He met Mary, his wife of fifty plus years, on a Hughes Employee Association tour of Europe. They had four children: Cynthia, died in infancy; Patrick (Mary); Dr. Julie; and Mary "Kami". The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., October 8, 2010 at the chapel of Holy Cross Mortuary, 5835 W. Slauson Ave., Culver City, CA. A rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. on October 7, 2010 at Holy Cross Mortuary, rooms B and C with viewing from 3 to 8 p.m., the same day. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, 825 College Blvd., #102, PMB 609, Oceanside, CA 92057. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
