Arthur W. Hallauer

Arthur W. "Art" Hallauer, 88, passed away peacefully at Dogwood Village Nursing Home, Orange, Virginia, on Monday, December 22, 2008.

Art served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 38 years, after which he moved to Louisa to enjoy country living. He enjoyed socializing with all people that he met and always had great stories told with a quick wit.

Mr. Hallauer is survived by his children, John K. Hallauer and his wife, Janet, of Washington State, R. Wayne Hallauer of Fairfax, Ron A. Hallauer and his wife, Joni, of Fairfax, Christopher S. Hallauer of Louisa, and Maureen A. Lynch and her husband James of Spotsylvania; six grand-children, LeAnn Hallauer, Lauren Hallauer, Karl Hallauer, J. Alan Lynch Jr., Kali Lynch, and Zachary Lynch; his sister, Marie Hanson of Watertown, South Dakota; his half -brother, Robert Wollan of Sue Falls, South Dakota; his half-sister, Marie Jacobs, of Watertown, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the Louisa United Methodist Church with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. The Reverend Robert L. Haley will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Louisa United Methodist Church Building Fund, 100 Main Street, Louisa, VA 23093.
