Victoria Martha Hallauer of
Moore, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on June 22, 2023, at the age of 97. Victoria, called "Vicki" for most of her life, grew up on the family farm in Orleans, Minnesota, born on July 27, 1925, to Anton Masloski and Mary (Polyewski) Masloski.
After her marriage to Carl Hallauer, the couple moved to
Watertown, South Dakota, where they made their home. Carl and Vicki built their home from the ground up and resided in South Dakota for over 50 years. Vicki enjoyed going out to dinner with her husband every Saturday night after mass. They enjoyed traveling, vacationing, and making memories together across the world. They especially loved to travel across the country in their motor home. Carl was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus, allowing them the opportunity to attend many exciting functions over the years. During her time in South Dakota, she was a faithful member of the Holy Name Catholic Church in Watertown, and later, was an active and devoted member of St. Mark's the Evangelist Catholic Church in
Norman, Oklahoma.
Vicki was always the life of the party. She loved talking to people and had a rich and active social life. She loved to dance, especially line dancing and doing the polka. Vicki also loved being outside. She enjoyed hunting, particularly for pheasant, ducks, and gophers. She also enjoyed trapping muskrat and mink. She was an avid birdwatcher and loved tending to her flower beds and keeping her yard and home looking immaculate. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing Bridge. Vicki always liked looking her best. She kept her nails beautifully manicured and never failed to show up for her bi-monthly appointment with her hairdresser.
Vicki was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, and friend. Her first love was her Lord and Savior, and being with her late husband Carl, the love of her life for 60 years. She loved being with her family, especially cherishing the time she spent with her pride and joy, son Larry, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vicki will be very dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Larry and daughter-in-law Barbara (Barbie), two grandchildren, Debra and daughter Hunter Marie, and Terry (Angel) and grandchildren Lily and Owen, one sister, Sophie, of
Hallock, Minnesota, and two sisters-in-law, Sister Virginia Hallauer of Aberdeen, South Dakota, and Marge Masloski of
Scandia, Minnesota, along with many nieces and nephews.
During her final three years of life, she lived at John Paul II Hospice House, operated by Sister Marie Faulkner and many lifeguard volunteers. She received the best care during her stay and during her final hours on this earth. A grateful blessing and gratitude for this wonderful care, especially Father Nabil for his weekly masses and communion, and the blessings at the chapel at John Paull II. The family would also like to thank Zella from St. Andrews for distributing Holy Communion to her on a weekly basis, as well as Frontier Hospice and nurse Ashley, for their care. A special thank you to Barbie as well, who spent many dedicated and caring hours providing love and support and preparing healthy and delicious meals for Mom.
