Arlene Faye Hallauer, 92, a resident of the Aurora community, passed away on August 31, 2023.
Faye was born on July 31, 1931, in Brady, Nebraska. She was the youngest of two daughters born to Clinton and Alice (Reutzel) Cantrall. She was raised in Brady until the age of five when her family moved to Hillsboro, Oregon. She attended Hillsboro High School, graduating with the class of 1948.
She met her future husband, Lowell Ernest Hallauer, at the Shute Park Skating Rink. They courted for four years and married on March 25, 1951, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Blooming. They made their home in Cornelius until 1954. They had six children together and raised their children in Forest Grove. Lowell and Faye moved to Aurora in 1986.
Faye was a homemaker until her children were out of high school. She went to beauty school and opened Faye's One in Aurora, a successful salon she operated for twenty-five years.
She spent her leisure time reading, walking, gardening, and spending time at the beach. She was a talented seamstress and made many of the clothes she and her children wore. Lowell and Faye enjoyed square dancing and were members of the 4-n-8ers. Faye was also an excellent cook, baker, and candy maker. Her family was the center of her life, and every holiday was celebrated at the family home.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, and a sister, Darlene Scholz.
Faye is survived by her six children and their spouses: Myrna and David Campbell of Philomath, Myron and Julie Hallauer of Sparks, Nevada; Maurice and Debrah Hallauer of Roseburg; Melynda and David Mills of Milwaukie; Marcie and Jim Gregory of Sunriver; Myrl and Teresa Hallauer of Stanfield; twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
