Catherine Woodfolk

Catherine Woodfolk, 68, also known as "Babee" died on Tuesday, December 22, 2009.

She was born on January 9, 1941, in Bracey, Virginia, the daughter of the late Mary Etta and William Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eugene Woodfolk; sister, Dorothy Crute; and brother, James Smith.

Babee was initially married to Thomas J. Harris "T.J." of South Hill, Virginia, and of that union, a son, Alvin Harris, was born. She moved from South Hill, Virginia, to Charlottesville in 1974 to work in University of Virginia food service.

She leaves to mourn a son, Alvin Harris of Charlottesville, Virginia; two sisters, Hattie Mae Stigall and Eleanora Oliver and her husband, Albert, of South Hill, Virginia; two brothers, Joe Smith of South Hill, Virginia and Johnny Smith and his wife, Mary, of LaCrosse, Virginia; one grandson, Joseph Michael Harris of Atwater, California; and one great-grandson, Shamel Harris of Charlottesville, Virginia; and a devoted niece, D. Marie Morris and her husband, Lee, of Ruckersville, Virginia.

Babee was a fun-loving, happy person and wonderful mother. She would always find something funny to laugh about and shared it with others to put a smile on their face or make them chuckle. She also worked in University of Virginia Housing, Days Inn, and University of Virginia Housekeeping.

She attended the Salvation Army Church until her health failed. She was a resident of Crescent Hall High Rise Building in Charlottesville for many years and Ebony Social Club of Charlottesville.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Roanoke Zion Church in Bracey, Virginia.

The family will receive friends after the funeral services at the church.

Feggins Funeral Home of South Hill, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.

You may send condolences to [email protected].

Many thanks to Hospice of the Piedmont; University of Virginia Dialysis, Emergency Room, Interventional Radiology and Hospital; and the Cedars Golden Living for all their care and companionship.

To Peter and the rest of Babee's family, I'd like to extend my sincerest sympathy and prayers during your hour of sorrow. Babee had a kind and loving spirit, and will be missed by all. In God's infinite wisdom, he decided that she had suffered long enough, and brought her home to be with him. Just keeping trusting in the Lord, and he will make everything alright.

Love,
Lee
