Dorothy Mae Brock

Dorothy Mae Brock, 83, of Gordonsville, died on Monday, July 5, 2010, at her residence.

She was born on September 12, 1926, in Orange County, a daughter of the late Phil Long and Lizzie Rucker. She was the wife of the late Burrell Brock Jr.

Mrs. Brock was a member of Blue Run Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess and was mother of the church.

She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Jackson and her husband, Robert, of Suitland, Maryland, Mary Richardson and her husband, James Jr., of Orange, Doris Snead and her husband, Clarence Jr., of Madison; three sons, Fred P. Brock and his wife, Othelia, of Barboursville, Robert Brock of Gordonsville and Burrell Brock III of Orange; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; a devoted cousin, Marshall Rucker; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Lindsay; and a sister, Ruth Blanding.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2010, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel, Gordonsville, with interment to follow at the church cemetery. The Reverend Peggy Brice will officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Preddy Funeral Home of Gordonsville is in charge of arrangements.
