Janine Wisco Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from Dec. 22, 2010 to Jan. 6, 2011.
Janine F. Wisco

Janine was born to Andre' and Juliette Potor and raised in France. As a young girl, her favorite place was Yvetot. The ocean held a special place in her heart. She came to the United States as the bride of Alvin, who was a GI during the American occupation of France in World War II.

Janine was artistic and innovative and a gourmet. She was creative with fabric and an accomplished seamstress, making clothes and stuffed animals for her family. She collected fabrics for the many ideas she had brewing in her creative mind. Janine painted too.

Janine was fun-loving and playful; a good practical joker. Everyone who met her seemed to enjoy her company and was curious about her lovely French accent. She will be missed.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin A. Wisco of Charlottesville; a son, Eric A. Wisco and his wife, Aysim A. Wisco. of Greensboro, North Carolina; and a daughter, Sandra J. Wisco of Charlottesville; a sister, Odette Masse' in Rouen France.

She was predeceased by a brother, Jean Pierre; and a sister, Nadine, all from France. Laughter was the main ingredient when she was with her sisters.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Saint Mark Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 100 Alderman Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903 or The Hospice of the Piedmont.

The celebration of her life is at St. Mark Lutheran Church 2 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011, after which there will be a reception and the family will greet friends.
