Leischow, Joyce "Sis"

Joyce "Sis" Leischow, 90, Algoma, died peacefully Saturday, May 4, 2013 at home. She was born January 4, 1923 in Maplewood to Joseph and Jennie (Feller) Kipping.

Joyce graduated from the Maplewood Grade School and the Algoma High School. She attended one year of Teacher's College.

Joyce married Glen Leischow October 29, 1949 in Maplewood. Glen preceded her in death on April 7, 2009.

She was an office worker at the US Plywood and then the Algoma hardwoods for many years. Joyce and Glen spent many nights going to watch Algoma High School girls basketball and UW-Green Bay women's basketball. Joyce also loved their fishing trips up to Canada, golfing and hunting at their cabin in Wausaukee. She was a member of the Joyce Club in Algoma which had 12 members and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Algoma. Joyce was a very generous person helping out anyone she loved and even some she didn't know, but needed the help. "She did it her way".

Joyce is survived by her eight nieces and nephews Sandra (Ron) Hora; James (Linda) Dalebroux, Jeanne (Dennis) Bisone; Steven Kipping (Shari Krejcarek); Julie (Bill) Maciejewski; Mark (Kris) Kipping; Germaine (Richard) Stern and Steven Guadagnoli; sister-in-law Eva Cole; special godchild Casey Lynn Wians; very special friends Scott and Vicki Vlies, the Schmilings and many others. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen, infant son Scott, parents Joseph and Jennie (Feller) Kipping, sister and brother-in-law Jeanette (Elmer) Dalebroux and brother and sister-in-law Gerald (Geraldine) Kipping.

Family and friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, 118 Church St., Algoma from 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 8th until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery to follow the Mass.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic School for the DI Program.

The SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma assisted the family with arrangements.

Joyce wanted to give a very special thank you to her caregivers over the years, Joyce Wians, Jessica Cornette, Cheryl Counley, Marge Naze and the Algoma Long Term Care Unit.
