Richard Brown Obituary

Richard (Dick) Noel Brown

Born December 25, 1947 in Seattle; passed away May 20, 2011 in Everett.
Dick was born and raised in Edmonds, relocating to the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle when he was a teenager. He subsequently raised his own family in Ballard. A retired 25 year union man, he was hard working and a terrific provider for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard, annual hunting trips, bowling, watching Shorewood High School Baseball, the Shanty Café, and family BBQ's.
A dedicated husband, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Barbara Brown.
Loving father of Laurie Mitsui (Britt), Angela Brown (Debbie), Rich Brown (Gayle); son-in-law of Dolores Van Orman; grandfather of Trevor, Takara, R.J., Nichole, Ashley, Cierra, Jasmine and David. Also survived by his loving companion of nine years, Julie Brown and her son, Justin; his siblings, John Brown (Shirley), Joan Johnson (Jack), Geraldine Rife, Bob Brown (Gloria), Den Brown, Linda Van Orman (Melinda), Ted Van Orman, Sheri O'Neal (Ed), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dick's smile, sense of humor and sincere kindness towards others will certainly be missed by all of those who were blessed to know him.
Private services will be held.

Some of my most treasured memories are the one's shared with Dick and Barb. Not only through work at Sunset Bowl but trips to Reno with caring people.
Dick was always the first one to help when help was needed.
I know how terribly you'll miss him.

I was lucky to have an uncle like Dick. Never saw him in a bad mood. He always had a smile on his face. The world needs a lot more people like him. He will be missed, thats for sure. Lots of good memories.

I loved Dick and Barb, so glad to have them as part of my family. I miss Barb still, I can't believe that Dick won't be there to carve the Turkey at Thanksgiving & the Ham at Easter. I'll miss him so much, he was an inspiration as a Dad & Grandfather. I don't know if I know anyone as dedicated to their family as him..

Although I did not know your father, I know that he was a great man and good role model - look at you Rich, a great man and good role model! My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss. The grief turns into joy with all of the memories of your dad. Your dad is with you with every breath you take.

We will always treasure all the memories of him and the whole family, from babysitting to company parties and just sitting and visiting for hours with our coffee in hand. We were saddened to hear about Dick's passing and our hearts go out to all the family. We always enjoyed talking to him at baseball games and have many fond memories of baseball tournaments and his camper. We will be praying for God's comfort for you during this difficult time.

We were lucky to have Dick and Julie move in next to us a few years ago...what amazing neighbors! Even knowing him for only a short time we genuinely care for and respect him. He was always such a happy man and just fun to talk to. We'll miss him pushing snow around the cul-de-sac with his quad and big shovel and driving that giant truck around:) We are deeply saddened to hear about this loss and our hearts go out to all of his family.
