FUNERAL HOME
Alma Fanguy Obituary
Visitation will be from 3 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
She is survived by her sons, James and wife, Karen, and Barry and wife, Tammy Fanguy, of Houma; daughters, Christiana and husband, Lonnie Dupre, of Pointe-aux-Chenes, Julie and husband, Curtis DeHart, of Theriot, Nadine Fanguy Bergeron, of Brookhaven, Miss., Samantha Fanguy and companion, Sterling Callagan, of Houma, and Marsha and husband, Wayne DeHart, of Houma; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Junius Berwick Fanguy; son, Wayne Joseph Fanguy; soin-in-law, Keith Michael Bergeron Sr.; parents, Dominique and Georgia Roddy Carlos; half-brother, Iley Carlos; half-sister, Pearl Rochelle; grandsons, Lonnie Dupre Jr. and Infant Fanguy; granddaughter, Naomi Marie; and great-grandson, Dylan Dupre.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
Falgout Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.

We didn't spend hardly in time with Mrs. Alma but I do remember the one time she came to our house one Christmas with Naomi and PJ . It was so funny we got her a purse as a gift and cheap me always wants the gift bag back to reuse she wasn't letting that thing go . Me and Naomi just laughed I said I guess I'm not getting that back. She never said a word . Hoping this little story will bring a smile to the families faces .

My Dearest Mama:
Words cannot express the emptiness I feel since you have gone. When God allowed his Angel (YOU) to enter this Earth on December 21, 1925; He allowed one of His most caring and loving Angels to embrace and radiate Her presence here. When I was chosen to be your daughter, I was blessed with the biggest gift I ever could have been given. Being your daughter is one of the most precious gifts a person could ever ask for. Your presence in this world made this Earth radiate with such an abundance of love, joy, serenity, and purity.
The saddest and most overwhelming day of my life was the day that God called you back Home. Mama, being you daughter is one of the most enriching experiences I have. I now have all the guidance and sense of security that you have taught me. While growing up, you have instilled in me the wisdom to know right from wrong. You taught me how to be a loving, caring, giving, selfless person. These are traits that only a mother like you can instill in a child. You have taught me so well, that I have passed these traits on to my children, and I hope and pray that they will take the guidance that I am teaching them the way that I have taken the guidance you have taught me.
You have always put your children first in your life and that is a trait that I have learned from you. When Daddy passed on, you were a single mother struggling to make ends meet. Mama, you did it without any whispers of complaint. You made sure that your children always had clothes on their back, a roof over their head, and food to eat. I know that was very difficult for you having six children to raise when Daddy passed on; but you did it. You never complained and always showed and abundance of love with that beautiful, warm, radiating smile that you always have. So many lives were touched by your sincerity, caring, and generosity that you showed and had given to everyone. This world is never going to be the same without you in it. I know that Heaven is a beautiful place; but I know that It is even more beautiful and glistening with your presence.
As you know Mama, you entered those Pearly Gates less than four months after Keith had entered them. Both my rocks are now in Heaven and it is so difficult to express the emptiness and loneliness that I feel inside. Although I know that you are both in a better place, I am selfish and just want you both back.
There is not a minute that goes by Mama without me thinking about you, and remembering all the talks and good times we shared. You taught me how to love, be strong, and how to care for my family. I promise you this, I am holding on, and taking care of my children; teaching them the caring, loving, and purity that they must carry to be responsible and grow to their fullest potential. Natalee talks to me about you every day, and tells me how much she misses her Maw Maw Fanguy. She has drawn a picture for you and has a beautiful cross that we will put in your sympathy book, to be passed around to everyone so that everyone can enjoy the present that she so dearly wants you to have.
Mama, I know you don't want us to stop living our lives. I am holding on to all our precious memories, but I am sorry that I cannot stop the streaming tears and emptiness in my heart that I have. I love you so deeply Mama, but I know you understand that this is hard for me, and I know that you are by my side every day holding me up through this painful time. Everyone always says that with time things become less painful and more easy. I don't understand how this is possible, because the more time that passes, the more I miss you; and not hearing your voice, seeing your beautiful, radiant smile, and touching and hugging you becomes more and more difficult for me. I am strong and I will hold on to our memories and love; this I know will help me. My children are with me, which being with them is a wonderful gift, and the love and support that we your children will give to one another will help us all. For now Mama, I will say FAREWELL; but not GOODBYE. I will see you again when it is time for God to call me Home. Oh, what a wonderful and glorious reunion that will be when I will be able to wrap my arms and hug you once again. Until that time Mama, I will hold on to my children, and love and care for them the way you did for me and my siblings. Please know this Mama, you are always in my Heart, and there isn't a moment that goes by without me thinking about you and your love for me. I want you to rest, and sing with the Angels as the Angel you are, and know that your grown children will all be fine here on Earth because of the wonderful job you have done raising us all.
