Lee thanks for all you have giving this world. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. I don't understand why The Lord took you. I think about June 16 2008 and most defiantly June 28 2008 everyday. You should have been home that day. You didn't have to stay with us after our ied. That day changed me forever man. I told you to go home and to this day I wish you would have but I know the solider in you wouldn't let you. So I know where your at and I want to ask one more thing of you and that is have a cup of coffee with me when I get there. I guess Woody needed a smoke and Stias needed something also hope they aren't getting on your nerves to bad love you man

The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Christian Memorial Day Remembrance worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 May 2013. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the bordering states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 300 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.
The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars of our nation's history and give honor to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each 8-foot cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of America's conflicts.
I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “Freedom:Free, but Costly.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and there place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the Memorial Garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel. The Memorial Garden will remain until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 27 May (Memorial Day).
As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. The Memorial Garden’s perimeter will be manned by members of the Patriot Guard and a honor guard from AMVETS Post #1 of Mendota will be posted at the entrance.

You were so many things to me but DAD was the most important. I will always be thankful for you. I wish that you could have been here to see Hunter grow up. To the family and parents of Estell I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. Although I had known SPC Turner for only a few months before deployment I can certainly say he was a great man. He was continually talking to me about his plans and how great his family is. He was a great soldier and a great friend. I'm a communications soldier and before each convoy rolled out I'd try to joke around with him just a tad because his face was always kinda stern right before they rolled out as he was trying so hard to focus on the mission.

I am so sorry for your loss. Clarence was my first cousin, his dad my uncle estelle and aunt lila mae. My mom was Lila Mae's sister. My prayers are with his family.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I do pray that the Turner family, Mother, wife, son and all those close will find that "peace that passes all understanding" in the coming days as you adjust to this loss.
Your family has a heritage you can take pride in: Lee's Grandfather "Estell Turner" was a WWII Veteran, then his father Clarence Turner,who was My first cousin served 18 yrs in the U.S. Navy!

Estell, I just wanted to say thank you for your brave and honorable service to a grateful nation, a nation in mourning for our fallen hero’s. You like so many other soldiers chose to serve our nation when needed most and with your life you protected the very core of what America stands for. My nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward also made that sacrifice on 5/6/2008 when he was killed in action in Iraq. As I mourn for my nephew I mourn for you and so many other brave soldiers and know that you all will forever be in my thoughts and prayers, we as a nation will never forget you. I stand tall and salute you Estell and from the bottom of my heart I thank you for the nights we at home could sleep without fear and know that we are safe. To the Turner family, words cannot express the pain we now share, but our families will forever have a bond and we will be thinking of Estell and your family and will keep you in our thoughts & prayers. Please accept my heart felt condolences and my prayer that god help you cope with this tragic loss and may the memories of your HERO carry you through each day. From one Gold Star family to another!

To the turner family i am so sorry to here of your loss i am a friend of estell's from grade school and high school my name is kenneth johnson me and sheldon would run around with estell all the time he was allways funny and fun to be with. I was listening to some cheap trick the other day and he was the first person that come to my mind. I will keep you in my prayers.

I'm saddend to hear that SPC Turner died of his injuries. I was one of his nurses who cared for him when he came in the door here in Afghanistan. I just would like his family to know that we did everything that we possibly could to save his life and to bring him home to you. While I did not know Estell personally he is a man I will never forget. My deepest sympathies to all of you back home.

I know how you feel losing a "HERO",Becoming a "Gold Star" Mother myself on 25 March.. The sacrafice our sons and daughters are making on a daily basis should tell us all..These young HEROS knew full well what they were doing and did it proudly When you hug your loved ones tonight.... As a Vietnam Veteran and the State Chaplain of the Georgia Society, Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, (Col.) Robert Towns and the more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia in humbly expressing the condolences of a grateful Society. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all.
