Eleanor GIBBEL Obituary

GIBBEL, Eleanor London Beloved wife, mother, sister, and adored aunt and great aunt, passed away peacefully October 17, 2010, in her 94th year, surrounded by family, listening to her favorite classical music. Born in Philadelphia, PA, November 29, 1916, the daughter of Dora Sley London and Louis A. London, she is survived by her loving son Kenneth M. Gibbel and her devoted sister and best friend, Shirley London Pollock. She came to Los Angeles in 1941, met and married the love of her life, Henry M. Gibbel, of blessed memory. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward A. London and sister-in-law, Trudy London Rifkin, brother-in-law, Martin Pollock, and daughter-in-law, Toni Lubin Gibbel. Her many nieces and nephews adored and admired her. Ellie was a highly respected artist who worked and experimented in many media, and was an inspiration to friends and family. She was a painter, printmaker, and sculptor. Ellie, Henry and son Ken traveled the world, and were active in their community. She was a lifelong participant in the UCLA Plato Society, and a dedicated member of Brandeis University National Women's Committee.

In Memory of Eleanor Gibbel
Eleanor was my Husband's Aunt.
She was the glue of the Gibbel family.
So sorry I did not know until today that she had passed.
