My condolences to the Family. Mrs. Ewing Rest in Peace. You saved me. You said if know know how to type, you will never go hungry. That IBM typewriter became part of me. I went on to work for IBM Watson for 4 years. Cheers Mrs. Ewing for teaching me to keep going!

Mrs. Ewing was the best teacher to me at OHS. She was strict and demanded respect but we loved her. One day in Short Hand she walked over to me and told me you can do much better than that. "I expect so much more from you Miss Jones!" "Did you know I taught your Father as well?" I was shock. I will miss you Mrs. Ewing may you rest in peace!

Mrs. Ewing was by far the best teacher in OHS.
I was the only boy in her class with 28 other girls and she never treated me any different. She demanded respect because she respected you. I will never forget her or her method of teaching. She made OHS a better school.

Years ago, at the Traveler's Rest class reunion, I gave Mrs. Ewing a big hug because a college English Professor said he would give you a plus 10 points for type written book reports -- and God knows I needed every one of them. Her legacy will live forever.
She also told me Coach Jim Dilly taught her how to apply a knuckle sandwich to the head of any unruly boy, but never had to use it. We know why!

This is Mrs. Ewing's five year anniversary of her passing. All those of us that were blessed to have had her as a teacher know that her influence has carried us through our professional careers. Left such a marked impression. She will forever be remembered and always be missed.

A remarkable teacher as her all thumbs student back in 1950. She told me typing was much like riding a bike. Once I learned I would never forget. She was right! Thirty or more years later I sent her a box of chocolates telling her to change my grade from a C to a B. She replied that she never gave me a C, but did remember catching us boys admiring her legs on many occasions - I plead guilty. There are many teachers that we forgot over the years, but never Mrs. Ewing. --- RIP

What a wonderful lady and teacher. I was in her Shorthand class (only male) for two years and credit her with my successes in my 33 year naval career.
She touched so many of us throughout her many years of teaching - our country could use her now. God Bless and may she rest in peace.

I had Mrs. Ewing in my Senior Year (1959), one of a few guys in the class... She was tough, but fair and I ended up benefiting from my typing skills early on in life. I will remember her as a classy person, a true lady and a great teacher. I am confident she left a wonderful impression on every student that crossed her path. May she rest in peace.

As an OHS alum, Class of 1959, it is with a measure of pride that I add my voice to the beautiful tributes to Mrs. Ewing, a beloved and dedicated teacher who inspired me to pursue a career in education. I feel fortunate to have had such a professional and exemplary role model influence the adolescent years of my life in such a positive direction. May her memory be a blessing.

Mrs. Ewing definitely had an influence on a lot of lives. I had her for two classes during my junior and senior years. Little did I know that the year of shorthand and half year of typing would serve me well through all my working years. I saw her several times over the years and she always had kind words and a smile. She'll be missed by so many.

One of the classic ladies of the century. She was our OHS class adviser back in the 1950 era and we kept in touch over the decades...No one I've ever known could spend time on the phone like her. She even contributed to our 191 class scholarship. I tried to call her last week - no wonder she didn't answer! She will be missed greatly.

priscilla ewing was one of my favorite
teachers at OHS (class of '57). It
was Mrs. Ewing who taught one of the most important business subjects that
helped me secure a secretarial position
at IBM. To this day I continue at age 75 use shorthand for meeting minutes,
write various entries, etc.
Mrs. Ewing was dedicated to "her girls" and gave us practical tools
which we use today.
Priscilla Ewing was indeed a true and
dedicated career professional. God bless her.

Priscilla Ewing was an inspiration to all of her students and especially to those who wanted to pursue a career in education as I did. I learned so much from her and admired her dedication to her profession and to her students.
She taught me how to type ( 96 on the Typing Regents!)-a skill I have needed as a teacher myself. Returning to OHS as a teacher and working with Priscilla as a colleague was a wonderful experience!
I ran into Priscilla in town over the years and she was always gracious, warm and happy to see me. I will miss her.

I only met Priscilla once, in the Assumption Cemetery. She was taking care of her family's graves and I was searching for family headstones. I like to say she was the first living relative I ever found in a cemetery. As we chatted, she asking what I was doing and her offering help locating the graves, we realized that we both had been interviewed by Sam Bell about our families. After exchanging emails, we discovered we were 2nd cousins once removed.I have very pleasant memories of Priscilla. RIP Cousin.
