Brian Ricketson Obituary

Brian A. Ricketson
Aug. 13, 1985 - April 28, 2016
Cochran, GA- Brian A. Ricketson, age 30, left this world much too soon as he peacefully died in his sleep with his loving and courageous wife by his side on Thursday, April 28, 2016. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 2, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. at Ruth Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Brian, born in Macon on one grandmother's birthday, passed away on the date of another's death date. He was preceded in death by his mother Pattie Firth Ricketson, his maternal grandparents Dottie and Bernard Firth and paternal grandfather, John F. Ricketson, Jr.
Brian survived a catastrophic injury at age 18 and against all odds survived. After meeting Amanda he decided to pursue a life of service as a nurse, following in his mother's footsteps. He graduated Middle Georgia College School of Nursing and was currently enrolled in Nurse Practioner program and was due to graduate this year. He was employed by Hospice, a job he really loved and was able to serve others with a gift of compassion. He was a member of Ruth Baptist Church and a fine Christian man. He loved life to the fullest and was a huge Georgia Bulldog fan. Brian was a loving and devoted husband and father and will be missed more than words can say.
Survivors are his wife, Amanda Mullens Ricketson of Cochran; his children Austin and April and in May is expecting the birth of his son Andrew John; his father, Jack Darden Ricketson of Juliette; sister, Aubriann (Justin Lavender) Ricketson of Milledgeville; brother, Kyle (Haley) Kaufman of Warner Robins; grandmother, Katherine Peters of Juliette; father and mother-in-law, Scott and Jan Mullens of Cochran; brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Nikki Mullens of Danville; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Brian Ricketson Memorial Fund at gofundme.com.
The family is at 377 Dillard-Cary Rd. and will greet friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday at Mathis Funeral Home. www.mathisfh.net

Brian was in my first musical at Mary Persons, played Jud. He brought love, laughter and great memories. "Oklahoma" would not have been the same. God be with your family and know you are missed. Love you young man.

I am so devastated and heartbroken. Bryan and Amanda have been wonderful neighbors and friends and I find comfort only in knowing he is in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you Amanda. With much love,
Danna, Stephen, Steve, and Alex Matheny.
