She was born in Augusta on Aug. 18, 1926, the daughter of Homer and G. Winifred E. Michaud.
Josephine's focus throughout her life was her family. Her greatest joy was being "Nana" to her nine grandchildren and "Great Nana" to her eight great-grandchildren. She surrounded herself by filling her walls and tables with their pictures. Josephine also enjoyed collecting angel figurines. In her earlier years, she enjoyed line dancing. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fitzgerald-Cummings American Legion Post, Augusta.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward G. Brown Jr.; her sisters, Delena Jewel and Rita Harrison; and a brother, Joseph Michaud.
She is survived by her two sons, David Brown, of Berwick and Richard Brown of Massachusetts; two daughters, Mary Jo Neault, and her husband, Daniel, of Berwick, and Judith Phillips, and her husband, Douglas, of Winthrop; a sister, Madeline Genest; nine grandchildren, Michael Neault and his wife Ali, Devin Brochu and her husband, Owen, Alesha Neault, Tamothy Louten and her husband, Daniel, Justin Holden, Kristen Smith and her husband, Lincoln, Stephanie D'Orsay, Alessandra Brown and Adam Brown; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no visiting at this time. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, at St. Mary's Church, Western Avenue, Augusta. Burial will follow in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.

My thoughts and prayers to "nanas" family. I spent many days visiting nana with Devin and we used to laugh and laugh about her still having a rotary phone...... I also loved seeing nana and catching up with her while i worked at walmart nana always had something nice to say about her family she was very proud of her children and grandchildren! ((((HUGS))) to all
