Audrey George

Decatur ~ Audrey George, 78, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, October 29, 2025 in Decatur.

Audrey was born on February 11, 1947 to Aubrey and Dessie (Quisenberry) Chapin in Denton. She went to Crozer Technical High School and later married James George. As a devoted homemaker, Audrey poured her heart into raising her children and embraced the role of grandmother to three generations, creating lasting and cherished memories. Her warmth and kindness made her a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Many people felt her love and support throughout their lives. Audrey’s gentle spirit and caring nature left a profound impact on all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt by many.

She was preceded in death by husband, James George; her sister, Tina Chapin; and her brother, Troy Chapin.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Bobby Copeland of Decatur, Robin Hamilton and her partner, Richard Kratzer of Decatur, James Lopez of Alvord, and Dale George of Decatur; her grandchildren, Crystal Lankford of Bowie, and Jason Hamilton of Pace Mississippi; her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Dixie, and Thomas Lankford, and Able Carpenter; her great-great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Casey, Jackson and Kingsley; her sister, Claudine Brown of Alvord; her brother, Leslie Chapin of Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
