A graveside committal service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Grantville Cemetery, north of Grantville, Kansas.

Chuck was born April 13, 1927, in Circleville, Kansas, the son of Corbin “Mike” and Emma (Swickard) Tryon. He was raised in Jefferson County and graduated from Perry High School in 1945.

At age 16, during the summer of 1943, Chuck began working for the Union Pacific Railroad, where his father was employed. The following May, he was rehired as a bridge carpenter helper.

On May 4, 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard a ship in the waters around Japan during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in August 1946, he attended the University of Kansas for one semester before returning home, where post-war job opportunities were scarce.

In September 1947, he returned to work for the railroad as a Signal Helper. His career took him to St. Mary’s and Topeka before he settled in Marysville in 1966, when he was promoted to Assistant Signal Supervisor. He later became Signal Supervisor, retiring on May 1, 1986, at the age of 59.

On January 30, 1949, Chuck was united in marriage to Charlotte J. Frisbie. To this union, three children were born.

Chuck was a devoted member of the Marysville Methodist Church, as well as the Arab Shrine, Masonic Lodge, and Marysville Country Club. An avid golfer, he enjoyed playing and volunteering his time to improve the course, often planting trees or servicing golf carts. Chuck and Charlotte shared many adventures traveling together, bringing along their clubs and stopping at golf courses along the way—never needing a set destination. He was proud to have achieved two holes-in-one during his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clyde; and sister, Moyne.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; three children, Gail (Wil) Gilkerson of Marysville, Pat (Kathy) Tryon, and Mike (Vicki) Tryon, both of Topeka; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established to the Marysville Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
