Margaret A. McDade, age 96, of Meadville passed away Monday morning October 20, 2025, in Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, surrounded by her four loving daughters.
She was born in Beaver Falls, PA on February 13, 1929, a daughter of Stephen and Margaret (Vekasy) Smilak.
She was a 1946 graduate of Beaver Falls High School and on August 4, 1951, Margaret married Norwood L. (Sox) McDade, he preceded her in death on December 6, 2016.
She was employed as a bank teller and vault attendant at First National Bank in Meadville for many years and previously was employed at B&W Steel in Beaver Falls, PA, J.C. Penney Co., and Samuels Market in Conneautville.
Margaret was a member of Saegertown United Methodist Church and enjoyed basket weaving and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters, Christine Grubbs and her husband Richard of Meadville, Patricia Pfaff and her fiancé Craig Morgan of New Brighton, PA, Donna Zimmerman and her husband Mark of Meadville, Nancy Deyarmin and her husband Jeff of Ponce Inlet, FL; two sisters, Irene Roscoe and her husband Robert of Monaca, PA, Barbara Rhymer and her husband Stacy of Winston Salem, NC; one brother, Bernard Smilak of California; 13 grandchildren, Brian, Justin, Nathan, Keith, Joy, Clint, Erica, Kelsey, Colin, Stephen, Emily, Alexis, and Brenna and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Edward Smilak.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday 10-24-25 at 1:00 PM in Saegertown United Methodist Church, 620 Euclid Ave. Saegertown with Rev. Jeffery St. Clair, pastor of the church, officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
