Martin “Maeng” M. Brosas, 67, of Franklin Park, Illinois passed away at Gottlieb Memorial
Hospital the morning of November 5, 2023, while surrounded by his family.
He was born in Laguna, Philippines, to Delfin and Gregonia Brosas on November 11, 1955. He
grew up in the Philippines with his six siblings the late Consuelo, the late Bonifacio, the late
Amado, the late Genoveva, the late Anastacia, and Merla. He graduated from Lilio Academy
High School in 1973. He obtained an electrical engineer degree at Feati University in Quaipo,
Manila in 1978. He had many professions in his life. He worked as a lambonog delivery while in
high school. He worked as a HVAC technician at Fedder Company in Paranaque City, Manila for
5 years. Martin emigrated to Chicago, Illinois in 1979 with his three brothers. He worked as a
chemical foreman at Ray Tech Co in Wheeling, Illinois for 30 years. Martin chased his dream of
owning his own business. He owned and operated, Liliw Oriental, a Filipino grocery store
located in Chicago for 10 years. Eventually he ventured out to manufacturing pork rinds, salted
peanuts, pickled relish “atchara”, and brazo de mercedes for 17 years.
Martin enjoyed smelt fishing with his friends. He also loved to cook, creating delicious meals for
his family. He also enjoyed planting vegetables in his garden and would have his grandchildren
harvest the vegetables.
Martin is family oriented and generous to his family and others.
He is a man of his word. He keeps his promises no matter the cost.
Martin is survived and missed by his loving second wife, Edna; and his children: Mareadel
(husband Diosdado), Mart Alvin (significant other Becky), Marianne (fiancée Ryan); step-
children, Zuella (husband Sam) and Myra (significant other Denver). Forever cherished and
remembered by his grandchildren: Jodel, Jodie, Jaida, and Jacob, Aiden, Dylan, and Leila,
Atticus, Aubrey, Sam, Serenity, and Naomi. As well as many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10 am on November 11, 2023, at Our Lady of Mercy Church in
Chicago.
