Aunt Betty Berry Opened up Thoroughfare Virginia to me and my family. She made sure we knew and understood the history of the Allen and Jones Family's. I spent some her last moments with her and she was a picture of character and strength. Oakrum Baptist Church was the foundation of her Faith and defined her beliefs. Thank you Aunt Betty for making sure I knew my Grandfather Cornelius Allen Uncle Howard Allen, Oakrum Church, my cousins and our family history. I salute You!

A real lady and a great aunt. She has left a big hole in my heart. I'm a better person for having known her. I know she is resting in God's arms. I will miss Aunt Betty but keep her in my heart always.

Dearest Cousin,

Where do I begin...You will no doubt be sorely missed. I greatly admired, respected and was in a way in awe of you. Having lived such a long fruitful life. You were and will continue to be a an inspiration to your family and friends alike.I'am truly honored to share my bloodline/heritage with you and felt pride "still do" when I mention you and lay claim to you as being my family.I just wish I could have spent more time and gotten closer to you.

May you find bliss and rest...I will miss you dearly.

Dearest Aunt Betty; It is so hard to say few words about you, because you have been such a loving presence in my life. My fondest memories of Thoroughfare are with you: sitting at the kitchen table and watching the train pass by five times a day; eating your homemade applesauce, listening to you speak of your childhood and our ancestors. My own niece received an "A+" for interviewing you for her genealogy project, and when I spoke at the "Stop Disney" march on the Mall, everything I said came from our family history and what you taught me. What an unfillable void you leave. Love always, Vickie (Price)

To the family of Betty,
It is so sad when someone we love passes away. May the comfort of friends and family be with you all as well as the comfort and tender mercies of our Heavenly Father (2 Corinthians 1:4). With deep sympathy,

Pat Fletcher
