Carolyn Dukenski Obituary

Dukenski, Carolyn B.
Carolyn Bradley Perry Dukenski, 64, of Goshen, CT passed away Thursday, March 6, at Hartford Hospital following a stroke. She was surrounded in her final hours by friends and family. She was born October 6, 1949, in Pasadena, CA, the daughter of the late Donald E. and Winifred (Woods) Perry. She is survived by her Trumbull High School sweetheart and beloved husband of 43 years Ronald Dukenski; her siblings Donald D. Perry and Melissa (Perry) Adams; her sons Jay and Stephen Dukenski; as well as her adored nieces and nephew, her daughter-in-law Katya (Lisovenko) Dukenski and her granddaughter Sonya Dukenski, whom she cherished dearly.
Carolyn will be remembered for her many deep friendships, her supportive counsel, her unreserved laughter, her keen mind, and for her tremendous capacity for charity and love which she expressed most fully by serving God in the ministry. As an ordained priest of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut, she shared her gift for pastoral care as Vicar of St. Peter's, Oxford, Priest Affiliate of Trinity Church, Newtown, Assistant Rector of St. James, Danbury, and Assistant Priest to the Partner Parishes of Our Savior, Plainville and St. Gabriel's E. Berlin; in her training as Seminarian Intern at Trinity Church Torrington and as a Chaplain at St. Raphael's Hospital; and prior to answering her lifelong call to ordained ministry as a parish and organizational consultant to the Diocese. Her work deepening the faith and bolstering the health of several churches will be a lasting legacy. Carolyn held degrees from Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, The University of Bridgeport and Hood College.
Carolyn's memorial service, open to the public, will be held at Trinity Church, 220 Prospect Street, Torrington at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 11 with The Right Reverand Ian Douglas, Diocesan Bishop presiding. The family asks you to consider a donation in her memory to the Fabry Disease Support and Information Group at www.fabry.org. Arrangements will be handled by Hull Funeral of Service of Danbury. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Ron, Jay ,Steven and family-
We would like to express our sincere, heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Carolyn was a very special pastor to us while she was at St. Peter's in Oxford. We also remember fondly and appreciate her offering to us as children when she taught us both church school at St. Peter's on the Green in Monroe. She was a true saint, one through whom you could see the love of God. We are saddened to learn of her passing from her time here. God's peace be with you all.

I am so very, very sorry to hear of Carolyn's passing. I have many old, wonderful memories from Trumbull and Newtown that include her. Even in high school, I knew she was so special, and her life proved that. I hope her strength and faith will carry over to you to get through this sad time. I am with you in thoughts and spirit today.

My words fail me, so I'll share the comfort from Isaiah 61:

God has promised to bind up the brokenhearted, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

I will be praying for you and your family as you walk through this time of loss.
With love and blessing,
Lori

Dear Ron,
I know there is absolutely nothing I can say that can even approach an understanding of the enormity of your loss. That is because it is impossible to describe who you have lost. Mere words could never describe Carolyn's love and humanity, her empathic intellect, the generosity of her soul, and so much more. Simply, albeit inadequately stated, she was a gift to all who knew her; to all who loved her. Peace to her being, peace to her soul, and in its time, peace to you, Ron, and to her beloved family.

Much Love,

Your "Amel"

Dear Ron and family,

Words are so inadequate to express the loss of this most precious and wonderful gift; your wife, mother, and grandmother and my dear treasured friend. She was one of the most loving and open-hearted people I've ever known and from the time we first spoke on the phone (matched as a result of sharing Fabry), it seemed as if I'd known her all of my life. We shared so many things in common, and most of all our voracious love of reading. I will miss her friendship more than I can say and the grief for her loss is overwhelming. Until we can be there in person on Tuesday, know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. She loved all of you so dearly. When times are dark for you in the days ahead, let your memories of her loving spirit give you some peace. Love, Cheryl and Bob

Ron and Family: Carolyn will be greatly missed. I talked to her a few weeks ago and she was so upbeat; looking forward to visiting St. Peter's during it's 250th Anniversary Celebration. My prayers are with you!
