LARRY LATHAM Obituary

April 15, 1953 - Nov 2, 2014 BROKEN ARROW Larry Edward Latham, 61, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away November 2, 2014, surrounded by family and friends, after a valiant battle with cancer. Son of the late Fred and Julia Latham, he is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Lynn Reynolds; sister, Susan Pollock and husband Alan, of Edmond; uncle, AJ Telowicz and wife Tomiko, Oklahoma City; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Larry enjoyed a varied career in animation, film, TV, theater and teaching. He was one of the founding members of the Oklahoma Alliance of Fandom (OAF), one of the earliest comics clubs in the nation. He was able to attend its 47th anniversary convention held days before his passing. With a degree in motion picture production from OU, he worked at Hanna-Barbera Studios in the storyboard department and graduated to directing and producing at Universal, Walt Disney, Scholastic and Berlin Film Company. He won an Emmy for TAIL SPIN in 1991. After moving back to Oklahoma, he was hired as an Instructor in 3D Modeling and Animation in the Visual Communications Program at OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee. Larry thrived on sharing his knowledge and experience with his students and inspiring a new generation of artists and animators and felt he had finally found his calling in teaching. He also created the popular webcomic LOVECRAFT IS MISSING in 2009 and attracted many devoted followers. A celebration of his life will be held on November 21, at 11 a.m. at the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa. Friends are requested to consider donations in lieu of flowers to: Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Humane Society of Tulsa, the Ned Hockman Filmmaking Award Fund at Oklahoma University, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, or any of the mission projects of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church.

You will never be forgotten dear brother and I still see your face many times a day day as your picture from days at OU filmmaking hangs on the wall right next the tv. Your brilliant talent, personality and zest for life was like none I´ve ever seen before or since-you literally lit up the room when you walked in. Being such a joy with so much to offer, you made a lasting impression on all who were lucky enough to know you. Can´t wait until we meet again one day

Can’t believe it’s been 6 years Larry since you left this earth; I still miss you and always think about how much more living you had left to do. I can only pray that you are at peace and are with our many loved ones that had gone before. We will always miss you brother.

Larry was ahead of his time. So smart, talented, gifted, giving, and loving. You'll be forever loved and missed by your sister. This world will never be the same without you dear brother.
