Elena Uribe Obituary

Elena Herrera Uribe, age 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Fountain Valley, California on October 13, 2010 at 4:30 a.m. She was born in McNary, Texas on August 20, 1928, the only daughter of Enrique and Manuela Hernandez. Elena is survived by her loving husband, Exiquio M. Uribe Sr. of 63 years. They were married in Juarez Chihuahua, Mexico and were blessed with 10 children; Manuel Enrique, Myrna Irene Caceres, Exiquio Jr., Cesar Oscar, Daniel Gerardo, Sylvia Isela Uribe, Esmeralda Steffen, Diego Humberto, Astrid Aracely Sanchez and Guadalupe Swartz. She is also survived by their spouses, 31 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, several relatives, cousins and many loving friends. Elena retired from ITT Cannon after a long career of 15 years. She enjoyed her work tremendously and always had fond memories of her dear long time friends. She was a loving wife and mother. Her life was centered around family. Elena loved cooking and preparing special meals for her family always anticipating Wednesday and Sunday visits with her children and spending afternoons with them. Elena had a sense of humor with an immense creativity, sharp wit, and imagination. She had the ability to make people feel comfortable in her presence always allowing them to express themselves. Elena's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Having been an only child she truly enjoyed being surrounded by them. In addition, Elena enjoyed several hobbies such as ceramics, macramé, and interior decorating, and above all, preparing her home for special occasions. The Rosary will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 17270 Ward Street, Fountain Valley, CA 92708 on Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 06:30 to 08:00 p.m. A mass with final respects will follow on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Reception following at Doyle Hall next to church.
