John Jennison

1918 - 2010

JOHN HENRY JENNISON Died October 23rd, 2010 at the age of 91. He was born in Ponca, Nebraska on December 27, 1918. John graduated from Ponca Public School and worked for the Missouri Pacific R.R.. He married Ponca classmate Margaret Carr on May 27, 1942. After serving two years in the Navy they settled in Long Beach, CA. As a voracious reader, John loved his 35 years working with books as Office Manager at Drown News Agency, a wholesale book and magazine distributor. Upon retirement, John and Margaret moved to Hemet, where they participated actively at Sierra Dawn. They spent months each year traveling in their trailer and took many trips abroad. John enjoyed dancing, music, traveling, hiking, exploring out-of-the-way places, reading, poetry, church relationships and service, and unconditionally loving every person who crossed his path. After unexpectedly surviving several brushes with death beginning at age 32, John treasured every day of life and every relationship. He was always smiling and laughing, even when things were falling apart around him. He was the sun around which his family orbited, all of his loved ones reaching out and grabbing a bit of that warmth whenever life seemed cold. John is survived by their three daughters, Lezlea, Janis and Lois. He leaves 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; John\'s brother, Morris Jennison, as well as his sisters-in-law Mary Jennison, Clarice Nielsen, Patricia Rowland, Ruth Hathaway; and his brother-in-law Donald (Jim) Carr, along with many nieces and nephews. John\'s wife, Margaret, his sister, Ida Camburn, and his grandson John Carpenter preceded him in death. Trinity Lutheran at Florida and Columbia in Hemet is the site for the memorial service on Friday, October 29th at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch. Memorial gifts to Trinity Lutheran Church, 191 S.
