Ronald Olufson Obituary

RONALD RAY OLUFSON, 63, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Corona, Ca on November 7, 1950 to Marjorie and Elmer Olufson. Raised in Riverside, he graduated from Ramona High School in 1968. A skilled builder, he owned a cabinet shop at the age of 20 and later owned a construction company. In 2000, his diverse construction career led him to his most recent position of Construction Operations Director at Ruhnau Ruhnau Clarke in Riverside. Throughout his life, Ron completed countless projects including furniture building, home remodels for family and friends, a mountain cabin for his daughter and son-in-law, and an amazing tree house for his grandchildren. During the 1970's and 80's, he was a member of Moreno Valley Rotary Club and served as president in 1979. He was a member of the Austin Healey Association of Southern California for many years, serving as president 4 times, and enjoyed restoring his 1960 MK1 BT7. He was a member of Canyon Crest Country Club for almost 40 years and was an avid golfer. Ron will be remembered for his strong work ethic, pride in his work, generosity, love for his family, and witty sense of humor. Ron is survived by his wife Kim; children Jenifer Olufson Martinez (Travis), Ryan Olufson (Shelby), Brandi Bauder (Terry), Ryan Pipkin (Lauri); grandchildren Mason, Collin, and Hailey Martinez; Corbin, David, Emma, and Grace Bauder; Hannah and Tommy Pipkin; and brothers Bob Olufson (Terri) and Russ Olufson (Mary). Ron was the consummate builder. His intimate knowledge of the construction industry and understanding of the design process was extremely valuable to those of us in the architectural profession. He will be missed by his many friends, colleagues, and especially his family.
