Kimberly Degnan Obituary

HOT SPRINGS - Kimberly Kay "Kim" Degnan, 40, Hot Springs, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City surrounded by her family after a valiant fight with breast cancer.

Kim was born in Hoven on July 23, 1970. She grew up in Lebanon and Edgemont. After graduating from Edgemont High School, she attended National American University and Chadron State College.

Kim married Jes Degnan on Aug. 19, 1995, in Hot Springs. They lived in Rapid City, Buffalo Gap, and finally settled in Hot Springs. To this union two beautiful daughters, Cassidy and Calyn, were born.

Kim was a caring individual and everyone she met became a friend. She was creative and spent hours working on her crafts to decorate her home inside and out. She loved the craft show circuit as she would socialize with everyone. But most important to Kim was spending time with her daughter, husband and family, whom she loved dearly.

Survivors include her husband, Jes, and daughter, Calyn, Hot Springs; father and mother, Larry and Florence Jost, Hot Springs; sister, Kelly (Randy) Wolfe, Summerset; two brothers, Kevin (Tammy) Jost, Edmond, Okla., and Kerry (Annie) Jost, Hot Springs; her grandmother, Sarah Gordon, Hot Springs; mother-in-law, Donna Degnan, Buffalo Gap; brother-in-law, Cory (Cynthia) Degnan, Ulysses, Kan.; nephew, Zach Jost; nieces, Delaney Jost, Gina Jost, Lacey Jost, Abby Degnan and Jenna Degnan; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Kim is preceded in death by one daughter, Cassidy, in 2001; her maternal grandfather, Leo Gordon, and paternal grandparents, A. Ben and Oralle Jost.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at United Methodist Churches in Hot Springs, with Pastor Morris Nelson and Pastor Earl Stucke officiating. Interment will follow at Buffalo Gap Cemetery near Buffalo Gap.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Jost, Kerry Jost, Randy Wolfe, Cory Degnan, Wes Grimes and Scott Cuny.

A memorial has been established in Kim's name and may be sent to Jes Degnan, PO Box 226, Hot Springs, SD 57747-0226.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD.
