Jason Harrell Obituary

Jason C. Harrell

Abilene, TX

Jason Chad Harrell 42, of Abilene, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

Jason was born in Abilene, Texas on November 19, 1974 to Ron and Ronna (Little) Harrell. He graduated with honors from Cooper High School in 1993. He attended the University of Texas in Austin where he received his Business degree in Management Information Systems in 1998. Through his professional career, he was an experienced solutions architect, developing software for several start-up ventures and leading systems development efforts with some major airlines and other companies.

Growing up in Abilene, Jason was active in sports from an early age through high school. He was proud of being on the 1986 Dixie Little League All-Star team that finished second in the state finals in Waco. He enjoyed tennis through middle school and played baseball and varsity soccer and football in high school. He loved being a Longhorn and while at UT was proud to be a member of the SAE fraternity.

With a love of the outdoors, he enjoyed everything from water skiing and boating, to hunting and horseback riding in the mountains. In addition to being a scholar and an athlete, he was a talented artist and photographer. Jason was an avid high school and college football fan (espe-cially his Longhorns) as well as major league baseball and Nascar.

He possessed a thirst for knowledge and an innate curiosity about life and the world around him, with his favorite TV channels being Discovery and History channels. He enjoyed his family, friends and dogs, and had a quiet yet sincere Christian faith. He would want his kids to know how much he loved them and how proud he was of them.

Jason had a big heart, loved deeply, and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents James W. and Fleeta Little of Abilene and J.B. and Marie Harrell of Abilene.

He is survived by his beloved children, Hannah (16) and Henry (11) of Highland Village; par-ents, Ron and Ronna Harrell of Abilene; sister, Lezli Harrell of Austin; aunts and uncles Tim and Maxanne Little of Abilene, Jimmy Little of Garland, and Debbie Yarger of Dallas; and nu-merous cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017, 5:00PM to 7:00

PM at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street in Abilene. A memorial service celebrating Jason's life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, 2:00PM, also at North's Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Iberis Cemetery.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to a favorite charity in Jason's name.
