I met Steve when I was 14, he was such a great guy with a gentle way about him, we knew each other through high school until he moved to Sac.We lost touch, but he was one who was never forgotten. I always loved Steve, to the Pirkey family my deepest sympathy, he was a wonderful man.

October 23, 2009

To the family and many friends of Steve Pirkey, I offer my heartfelt condolences. Although Steve suffered a long illness, this time is never easy when it finally comes.
Sharing memories, I recall how much so many of our memories were made because of the people we meet through working at Aramark. We had softball games, with pizza afterwards, golf, trips and many other social gatherings. Steve and his family were always there to enjoy the camaraderie. The "Aramark group" was, and still is, something very special. Although circumstances and time have changed the closeness we once shared, when something happens to one, we all gather together again. There is a very special bond that has been made over the years.....and we now share the wonderful memories of friends and days gone by. God bless.
Much love,
Jacqueline Vona

My condolences to the entire Pirkey family. Steve was a good friend since early boys' club days through high school. Over the years we played both with each other and against each other and they were always enjoyable. To Jimmy and Patti, the two Pirkey kids I knew better than the others, I know Steve will be missed by you and you will be in my prayers. I wish I could have been able to make the service. Steve, you will be missed!

To all my cousins and Aunt Dolly,
In my best momory I remember Steve laying on the floor with Jimmy on Santa Rita with the two of them checking out their baseball cards. Uncle Bud and Dad watching the games. While Mom and Aunt Dolly in the kitchen cooking. Patty and I always in trouble for fighting nothing big. Sandy,Joyce, and Barbra all chattering about news of friends. Though many years have passed since seeing Steve these are the times I remember. Not the Husband, Dad, and Friend to many. Steve was always my quiet cuz. I understand he was not in good health for awhile. Sometimes our time is short he will be truely missed. Steve give that big Texan my Uncle a big hug. Tell my Mom,Dad,and sister they are missed.I bet those Farrells are having a hell of a party. We will be missed you. You will be in no pain.I love all you Pirkey's My heart is with you all Love Always

Where do I begin. I've known The Big Man since I was born. He was my next door neighbor, but that doesn't even do it justice. He was such an integral part of my history. He was my family. From baseball games, bbq's, b-ball swim parties where he saved little me from the big mean boys....to the best breakfasts every Sunday of my first decade and a half of life. There's just too much to even touch on. Big Steve will always have a place in my heart, he made me feel like I was always just one of the boys. Which if you know me is all I ever wanted. Love you Big Man. Paul and Kevi...you are my brothers I love you so much and I am heartbroken for you, to say sorry just isn't good enough. I am always here with every memory you could ever want to know...anytime. To my Jojo, I know this pain is awful and you know how much I love you. RIP Big.

We love you papa.

IF I KNEW
If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep I would tuck you more tightly and pray for the LORD my soul to keep. If I knew it would be the last time I'd see
you walk out the door I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more. If I knew it, it being the last time I'd hear your voice, I would have lift it up in praise, taped each actions and words so I could play them back day after day. I love you Brother

I am so sorry to hear about cousin Steve's passing. Times like these it is hard to believe that life will go on and that we will get through this. It is a hard path for us to follow, but one that will make us stronger in the end. I know that Steve is in good hands since Uncle Buddy and daddy (Bobby Frank Eller) are up there with him and will show him the way. We all send our love,
Peggy, Donna, Robbie and Jackie Eller

To Pam and the rest of the Pirkey family,

We are so sorry for your loss; Steve was not only a good man and great neighbor but a loving father as well. No words will lessen the grief that you are feeling right now but the love that you shared and the memories you have will help mend your broken hearts in time. We loved him and we are sad that he is gone.

Steve was a "gentle sole" always smiling never judging. Steve would always say I got to go to the kids game in a little while. We will miss him and I know he is looking down from heaven through the stars . He will be carried in the hearts of all who knew him. In celebration of his life may God Bless his family. I am glad our paths crossed. We met Steve when his fiancee introduced us.

Our family is so sad that we have lost our little brother, father, uncle and son. We are grateful for all the happy times we shared. Steve has joined our dad in heaven and has shed his worn out body that fought a long hard battle with his heart decease. We will miss the conversations but know your spirit will always be with us.

Mother Dolly said to me "I have lost a son and grateful you have come into the family." My reply was "Steve's in a deep sleep without the pain for that long journey." Rest in peace my Brother we will all miss you. "Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good."
