Rosalie Gunn Obituary

Rosalie (Anderson Bailey) Gunn graduated Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, to be in the presence of The King and join a magnificent party in her honor. Rosie danced at the Pearly Gates which spread open wide, reuniting her with parents, Maurice and Mary Gunn. Her favorite tune, Ramblin'' Rose, played in the distance where husband, Leo Prins Anderson, aka ''˜Bucket-head,'' and son, Maurice "Andy" Prins Anderson were awaiting her arrival. The music cranked up and sounds of "South Pacific" beckoned her to the dance floor. Laughter and joy were heard as best friends, Genevieve Goff, Dee Von Wehrloff, Lou Romero and Joe Mendoza, cut a rug with her - all having endless energy and caught up on old times. Beckoned to her seat at the piano, Rosie cranked out her favorite honky-tonk tunes, marches and hymns, also taking requests from the crowd. The feast laid out before them included her favorite seafood, grilled tri-tip and meats loaded with garlic, roasted leg of lamb and all the trimmings, not forgetting her sweet tooth - and as she would tell you, "all my teeth are sweet!" After greeting some of the most important loves of her life, from Judge to Winnie-Poo, she saw St. Francis of Assisi and asked him to present a special blessing on behalf of all the animals on Earth. Sending confirmation through sunshine, thunder, lightning and butterflies throughout the following hours, Rosalie let her two beloved daughters, Maureen Prins (Anderson) Rousseau and Kathleen Prins (Van Romer) Welles, and sons-in-law, David (Foo) Rousseau and Bill (Wildman) Welles, know she arrived in at the Glory of Glories. Her parting was quick and her new position in eternity was more than she could have ever imagined. Well-educated, Rosalie was always a productive member of society, having held professional jobs throughout her tenure on planet Earth. She served her country in the U.S. Army, Women''s Army Corp at the Pentagon during World War II. Irish to the core, and proud of it, Rosalie spent most of her 91 years as a gypsy at heart. She was never afraid to venture out to fulfill her dreams of travel and adventure and instilled that in her children. Rosalie dreamed of the beauty and splendor of Hawaii and went there many times after she retired, securing great jobs, which always included accommodations in the most beautiful beachside locales. Children who didn''t attend the party were daughters Maureen and Kathleen; son, Bill; grandchildren, (great-grands and great-great grand) as follow: Debi Prins McManus (Chelsy Prins, Callie Prins), Shawn, Chuck (Kolby, Kayla) and Justin Pennington. Grand-pets not attending were Wadd, Mr. Pookit and Tira Miss-U. Her loving family will join together at the Emerald Isle of the Pacific along the Napali coastline on Kauai, Hawaii, to celebrate here on earth - the blessings and priceless inheritances of compassion, character, common sense, love and adventure instilled in them by such a really good woman known first as mommy, then mother and above all, "One who loved animals - more than humankind." Not the flower kind of gal, Rosie would ask if anyone wants to do something in her memory, please make a donation to the animal shelter/foundation of your choice. We sure do love you mom!

I don't know you or you loved one but want to thank you for sharing her life in such a fun, upbeat and creative way. Made me feel like I knew her and wished I was at the party, so I could have heard her play. But I will one day! I'm thinking my father (who died 4 years ago) also a piano player and music lover (especially Gershwin) was probably in attendance and he can introduce me to Rosalie when I arrive at the gates! Thanks for a beautiful tribute. She sounded like a wonderful and talented gal I know you will miss.

Nature

As a fond mother, when the day is o'er,
Leads by the hand her little child to bed,
Half willing, half reluctant to be led,
And leave his broken playthings on the floor,
Still gazing at them through the open door,
Nor wholly reassured and comforted
By promises of others in their stead,
Which, though more splendid, may not please him more;
So Nature deals with us, and takes away
Our playthings one by one, and by the hand
Leads us to rest so gently, that we go
Scarce knowing if we wish to go or stay,
Being too full of sleep to understand
How far the unknown transcends the what we know.
