Katherine May Jensen
1921 - 2010
Katherine May Jensen a long time resident of the Santa Maria Valley passed away quietly in her sleep after a prolonged illness at the age of 89. Born Katherine May Vertress on May 5th, 1921 in Burbank, Ca, she was a descendent of the prominent Rhode Island businessman, Nicholas Brown for whom Brown University was named.
Mrs. Jensen arrived in Santa Maria in the 1930's with the rest of her family. While attending Santa Maria High School she met and would later be married to Irving Edward Jensen, a native Santa Marian, for more than fifty years. During their lives together they would have four children. Mrs. Jensen lived long enough to see the births of her grand children, great-grandchildren, and greatgreat-grandchildren in our town.
Mrs. Jensen is survived by her sons Irving Jensen Jr. of Las Vegas and Gary Jensen and his wife Una, of Las Vegas; grandchildren Renay Boos, Sherrie Boos, Irvina Reid, Shawn Jensen and Mark Jensen; great-grandchildren Danna, Crystal, Amber, Megan, Joshua, Tray and Kylee; as well as five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by her husband Irving Jensen Sr.; daughter Ardella Jensen; and son, Irvin Jensen.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010 in the Santa Maria Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of Magner-Maloney Funeral Home and Crematory. Sympathy notes and words of support may be expressed at www.magnermaloney.com.
