Ray "Pudgy" Campbell








Ray "Pudgy" Campbell passed away October 19, 2010 after a lengthily illness. Pudgy was born and raised in Santa Maria and attended local schools. He also played little league baseball which was managed by his uncle art "Bury" Kelley Hanson equipment team. He also loved to play the guitar, sing and entertain.. He was a member of teamsters local 381 in Santa Maria. Ray was a Sgt. Major with the Salvation Army also.
Ray is survived by his children Julie Anderson and husband Jeff of Bakersfield, Patrick Campbell of Maricopa, Kristina Campbell of Rio Rancho New Mexico, Jonathan Campbell and wife Diana of Twenty Nine Palms, and Tammy Campbell of Santa Maria. Grandchildren Jeffery and Joshua Barreth, Orion Campbell, Brandon Campbell, Kylee Emerick, Ashleigh Campbell, Wyttne Campbell, Keneary Campbell, Natasha Campbell, his companion Kristi Brown of Taft, mother Kathleen "Kelley" Papi, aunt Mickey "Kelley" Freeman of Santa Maria, brothers John and Arthur Vecente, sisters Cheryl Ebbert, Francine Hershey, Dana Lopez and husband Paul of Santa Maria. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and very dear friend Kyle AKA "Bub" who was like a grandson.
Ray is preceded in death by his father Bob Campbell, his grandparents Henry and Frances Kelley, daughter Kari Campbell and grandson Jason Robinette.
Graveside services will be held Friday, October 29,2010 at the Santa Maria cemetery at 10:00 a.m.

Time passes so quickly.First meeting Pudgy at El Camino(the only jr.high at the time).He had the same mischievous smile and the twinkly light to his eyes, as in the photo shown with the guest book. Always fun to be around. I remember at his distant cousins funural Vick Munoz Powell(in the late 80's),he said only the good die young. Not true
