Kevin Covlin Obituary

Kevin Wayne Covlin, 51

Princeton

July 3, 1962 ~ October 28, 2013

Kevin Wayne Covlin, age 51, of Princeton, MN lost his life due to injuries sustained in a private aircraft accident on Monday afternoon, October 28, 2013. He is appreciated by many, and will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind.

Kevin was born on July 3, 1962 in Assiniboia, SK, Canada to Frank and Margaret (Stianson) Covlin. He was raised there and made his choice to serve God with his life at age 10. In summer of 1984 he met Debbie Burchill at a church convention at Emo, ON. They joined their lives together with great hope at the Burchill farm near Hope, ND on September 7, 1985. Four daughters came to be part of the family in the years which followed. Together, Kevin and Debbie spent 15 years near Chicago where they began a company called FLR Sanders, and then in 2000 a series of events led them to move near Princeton, MN, FLR coming along with them through the move. Through FLR, Kevin met and worked with many wonderful people who have blessed his life and his family's lives in ways beyond number.

He lived his life to the fullest measure in every category, whether it be his congenial teasing of those he loved, his giving from his heart whatever he had to help those who needed it, or his quiet mentoring of the young people who worked with him at FLR. As a man who loved a full life, he enjoyed spending his time in hunting, fishing, and of course, flying. The greatest expression of his whole-hearted way was in his faith and his devotion to God, and his efforts to help others to love what he loved of his Father in heaven.

He is survived by his wife Deborah of Princeton; children Priscilla Denise (Keith) Wipf of Grouton, SD; Marcy Elysia (Bjorn) Anderson of Foreston; Danika Rose of Minneapolis, and Taylor Morgan of Princeton; by grandson Bradyn Wipf; by his parents of Assiniboia, SK; by siblings Rosanne Covlin of Cameroon, Africa; Neil Covlin of Grimsby ON; Marlowe (Jay) Covlin of Moose Jaw, SK; Lawry (Rob) Tardif of Regina, SK; Pat (Karen) Covlin of Fort Qu'Appelle, SK; Sam (Janeen) Covlin of Priestville, SK; and many, many other special people whose relationships with Kevin cannot be explained in words.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Princeton High School Gymnasium. Friends may call from 9 - 11 Saturday at the gymnasium. Burial will be at the Milo Cemetery in Milo Township following the service.

Dear Debbie, It is hard to believe that six years have gone by since Kevins untimely death. I say untimely and yet it may have simply been Gods time. So much we do not understand, and indeed we do not need to understand, because God knows far better than we ever could how everything is put together, and His plan will prevail. Trust that you are finding peace as your life continues.
Love in Him, Myrna and Ernie Pearson

Dear Debbie and families. Even though we have only been in your circle of influence for less than 3 yrs, you have become very dear to our hearts. Having had the privilege of spending the last three days of Kevin's life in your home, was such an unforgettable blessing to us. Our plane ride Saturday proved Kevin's great skill as a pilot and to be elevated above the busyness of life and focus on the things that matter most. Kevin never built a wall, always a bridge. Love you Kevin. Your Alberta Friends, Penny and Delbert Lewis

It is with heavy heart I write this note.
I was afforded the privilege of growing up and attending school with Kevin. We lost touch shortly after our graduation as we both left to embrace this big old world. From time to time over the decades I would hear bits and pieces of how well Kevin had done for himself and it would always make me smile.
Over the 12 years we spent together he always exhibited a quiet strength of confidence where he would never boast, but instead would just show all his true abilities. Just last week I spoke to co-workers again of the finest natural athlete I had ever met and that person was Kevin.
I am proud to say, I was fortunate enough to have Kevin as a friend and role model in my early years. The world and my life is better for having known him.
Thank you Kev.

Dear Debbie, Neil and Roseanne. We have been deeply touched by Kevin's death. We never met him but we knew of him because of the Burchill/Bateman connection. We have learned that many were touched by his life and that life has touched us through his death. The loss here on earth is great and yet there is even greater feeling for that loss in Heaven's rejoicing, because of the One who entered fully into this life here on earth, with all its joys and sorrows. We find consolation in knowing that you all will know a deep comfort in the dark and lonely days ahead as you miss someone who can never be replaced.

Dear Debbie and family

We being of the generation of Frank and Margaret and Lyle and Grace our thoughts go to the good visits we've had with them. We always enjoy catching up on how you kids were doing. I can never remember having a chat with Kevin that wasn't entertaining, interesting and full of enthusiasm. The early 80's were very interesting as Eleanor and I would get little snippets from our kids about what our young folks were doing and it thrilled our hearts to know that Kevin had fallen for you Debbie. It brings us all comfort knowing that our families have enjoyed serving our Lord a first priority and it's a time like this that it means so much.

All our Love Al and Eleanor Habicht

I remember being in your home, Frank and Margaret, when visiting Stianson's with Irene, and Kevin would have been about 3yrs...He grew up to be a good and faithful man, and it is encouraging to read of his influence on others. You can be so grateful for having such encouraging words said about your son. It has brought back memories of my time in Regina...we can be so thankful for God's keeping power.

November 2, 2013

Our hearts and minds are with you on this heavy-hearted day. Dale thought the world of Kevin, and his kindness to everyone (even the newbies!) on the snowmobile trips to Yellowstone. His first impression was, "Now there's a gentle giant." Duane R brought him to our house one night at about 11pm as a surprise for Dale. I told him how pleased I was to finally get to actually meet "The Legend" because Dale spoke so highly of him. We so wish we could be there today, but just know that we'll be watching the clock and will be there in spirit and in love.
