Ed Green

Ed Green Nov. 27, 1935 to August 3, 2012 Ed Green, beloved husband, father and friend, passed away from complications related to a heart attack he suffered at his home in the Southwest of France. Ed was an internationally known California trial attorney who specialized in defending high-profile aviation and product liability defendants, most recently representing a corporate defendant in the last wrongful death case arising from the September 11 attacks. He was 76. Ed entered the practice of law with the San Diego City Attorney but gained fame as a civil trial attorney with the firm of Bronson, Bronson and McKinnon in San Francisco and Los Angeles, where he led the firm's litigation practice. Among his notable clients were Bombardier, Lockheed Martin, Cessna Aircraft, Learjet and Northrop Grumman. He tried over 300 civil jury trials to verdict in 16 different states and was a pioneer in the field of jury research, using focus groups to scientifically test themes and theories of a case before trial to determine their success. Ed was proud to serve as a mentor to many young Bronson attorneys who fought to carry his trial bag in order to learn from a master. These same attorneys are in practice today and openly admit they are indebted to Ed for his skilled guidance and instruction. Among his many professional honors, Ed was elected to the American College of Trial Lawyers which recognizes only the most prominent trial attorneys in the United States. Even though he was a hard working professional, Ed still found time to sail his 46 foot sail boat to Hawaii with his son Andrew. He was a commercially rated pilot and very often would fly his Piper Aerostar hundreds of miles to attend to his litigation practice. Ed and his wife Sally purchased a stone farmhouse on 23 acres in Southwest France, and over the past 29 years have renovated it into a five star mini-resort taking guests during the summer months. He biked a section of the Tour de France, and has led bike tours of the South of France with Sally for friends and family. Not adverse to kitchen duty, Ed developed into a fine French chef. Ed was born in Santa Barbara, California and was raised by his grandparents on a nearby ranch. He graduated from the University of Southern California, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1958 and a Law degree in 1960. He was also a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at USC. He will be buried on Friday, August 10, 2012 in Roquecor, France. Ed leaves behind his wife Sally, his two sons, Andrew of Marin County California (wife Geri) and Stace of Breckenridge Colorado (wife Terry) and two grandchildren Nathan and Littlepage.
