ROBERT HANKINS

82, of Pomona, passed away September 7, 2010, at his home in Pomona. Mr. Hankins was born January 22, 1928 in Mexico, Missouri, to Ida Lee (Freeman) and John E. Hankins. He served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1951 where he was stationed on the USS Bairoki, USS Valley Forge and spent time with the US Marines. Robert retired from the Corsican Furniture Company, Los Angeles, after working as their accountant for twenty-seven years, and was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Claremont. Surviving is his long time friend, Terry Davis, sister Lorraine Rogers, nieces Vicky and Sandy, nephew Mike, great niece and nephew Brandy and Derek and sister-in-law Christine Hankins. He was preceded in death by his brothers John Klein Hankins and William Karol Hankins and sisters Patricia Hankins Frisbee and Joann Hankins Gillum. A rosary will be recited at Todd Memorial Chapel, Claremont, this evening at 6:15 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Claremont, Saturday at 8:15 a.m. Entombment will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pomona. Todd Memorial Chapel, Pomona is in charge of arrangements.
