Shirley Flowers Obituary

Shirley Flowers Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, 72, was granted her angel wings on October 19, 2010. Shirley was born on May 1, 1938 in Ripley, West Virginia. She and her husband, Tom, married in 1955 and celebrated 55 years of wedded bliss this past August. Shirley and her husband first resided in Columbus, Ohio, and in 1957 decided to move and raise a family in Lakewood, California. After raising her four children, Shirley went to work at Orchids Paper in La Palma in 1975. Always a hard worker, she worked her way up from a Packer to a Supervisor and retired in 1995. In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed square dancing with her husband and sewing clothes for herself and her family. She had a passion for shoes, and rarely saw a pair she didn't like. She enjoyed her yearly visits back home to Ripley, West Virginia, where she enjoyed re-connecting with family and friends. Her ultimate joy was being with her children, grandchildren, and friends. She had an ability to make people feel comfortable in her presence by always allowing them to express themselves. She will be missed dearly by her family and all who knew her. Survivors include her beloved husband, Tom; children, Mike, Cheryl Boardman (Larry), Theresa Goddard (Terry), and Patty Walker (Tony); brothers; Danny, Jim, and Richard Anderson; and nine grandchildren, Ryan, Bret, Joshua, Kade, Terry Dean, Tarah Mae, Trisha Jo, Emily, and Amanda. Services will be held at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cypress, CA on October 27th, 2010, 11:00 am.

I will miss you Aunt Shirley and the amazing way you could make us laugh and how you brought your kindness and deadpan wit to the table, making me and others feel so special. Special to just be around YOU.
I hope that when it's my turn to go, I will have touched as many lives as you have in your stay here. Bless you, my favorite Aunt, and peace be with you, always. Love Robbie <3

Oh, my Aunt Shirley, had the most amazing personality!! She was funny and witty! She raised Incredible Children who are strong and successful. I will cherish her loving and inviting spirit. My heart is selfishly breaking because I will miss her. All the while, knowing she is in the arms of Jesus dancing and cracking jokes, brings me a sense of peace and joy! Sending all who knew and loved her a warm hug and the thought of knowing we will have a chance to see her in Heaven one day!!

My thoughts are all good of Shirley. She really was full of Love and I can't thank her enough for sharing that with me and my family. I traveled with her shopped with her and spent many holidays with her and loved hearing her deep laugh. She was already an Angel to me, now I know she is watching over all of us she loved! With Much Love
to the family, Nancy Baker
