Jolene Shellman Obituary

Shellman, Jolene L.

Jolene L. Shellman (nee Lang) passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the age of 67. Loving wife of Robert L. Shellman for over 40 years. Beloved daughter of Patricia (the late Joseph) Lang. Dear sister of Jane (Jon Doll) Lang. Daughter-in-law of Robert E. (Loretta) Shellman and the late Pauline F. Moody. Dear sister-in-law to Dr. Thomas J. (Catherine) Gasser, Roger F. (Eileen) Shellman and Stephen P. Shellman. She also leaves her special friends and neighbors, Jim (Suzy) Lindenberg and Anthony (Beth Ann) Waite. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. We would be remiss, however if we did not mention one of Jolene's greatest loves; her horse and beloved companion, Paddington. She also leaves her pet cats of whom she was particularly fond of.

Jolene enjoyed a distinguished career in corporate law. She was a part of A.O. Smith's legal counsel as well as an associate of Varnum Ridering and Schmidt & Howlett. Her last opportunity was at Magnetek, where she served as General Counsel and Secretary. Her years of hard work and dedication enabled her to pursue many passions. Jolene was an accomplished horsewoman, participating in show jumping and dressage at Split Rail Farms with her equestrian friends. She was a tireless advocate for animal welfare and was a volunteer at Life Striders in Waukesha. She had many friends with whom she enjoyed exercising, golfing and participating in book clubs. Jolene loved to travel; sometimes just she and Bob and other times with dear friends Judy and Alan Gesler. Jolene was also privileged to participate in an "Honor Flight" to Washington, D.C. last year.

She was an avid enthusiast of all Wisconsin sports teams. Jolene especially enjoyed Badger basketball as she was seated with the player's families, just behind the Badger bench. She often added a measure of dignity and restraint to her husband's excessive behavior at the Kohl Center. With her many accomplishments, Jolene's greatest love however, was always for her family. She had a deep love for her mother, her sister Jane and her late father. Her family was her center. She also kept her extended family of cousins in Sheboygan, Michigan, California and Texas close to her as well. Jolene brought something special to the lives of all whom she touched and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Gilberto Rodrigues and the nursing staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic. Special thanks also for the care and kindness in her final days at AngelsGrace Hospice. A memorial gathering will take place at the Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 1 to 3 PM.

"Go Badgers!!"

For those wishing, memorials are appreciated to HAWS or the charity of one's choice.

My fondest memory of Jolene is as the older, patient sister with a quiet, sophistication. While Jane and I were the wild and wooly "kids". She will be sooo missed by all. My sincerest condolences to the family.

I had the pleasure of training Jolene and her horses for the past 25 years first with "Easy" and then Paddington. Her love for her horses and passion for the sport was just wonderful to share. Alway curious, dedicated with so much gumption. Always a happy smile and a warm hello, she will be truly missed

Bob I'm so sorry for your loss. Jolene was a great, dignified lady and a wonderful life-partner to Bob. I worked with Bob for a number of years during the 1980's at Heritage Trust and was fortunate to have enjoyed her friendship when we all socialized together. Meb & Mike Imse
