MANSFIELD, LA - Services honoring the life of Mr. Jason Warner Burr, 35, will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Rose-Neath Chapel, Mansfield, LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. Wilton Wager, interment will follow at Community Missionary Baptist Church, Lee Cemetery, Catuna, LA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM at the Rose-Neath Chapel, on Wednesday.
Jason Burr was born on January 19, 1976 in Shreveport, LA to Clomar and Viola Burr and entered into rest on April 25, 2011. Jason is preceded in death by his grandparents Ruth Burr, Aldie Worsham and WA Worsham. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Karen Brumley Burr; parents Viola Worsham Burr and Clomar Lewis Burr; grandparents Bro. Garthel L. Burr and Natalie Burr; sons Coleton Gregory Burr and Austin Cade Burr; brothers Garthel Wayne Burr and wife Dee and Clomar Lewis Burr, Jr. and wife Sheila and stepmother Eddie Burr.

A loving tribute: Jason was my first baby! He was due on my 12th birthday in late December but wasn’t born until Jan 19th. I considered Jason a combination of baby brother and child rather than first cousin. Anytime I talked with Jason or spent time with him, we laughed together. He was sweet, handsome, huggable, and lovable. Personality, patience, and humor were strengths of Jason. (No doubt a people person.)
My memories of Jason are all wonderful, especially those of attending several Shreveport Captains baseball games when he was growing up. I had the pleasure of having dinner with Jason and Karen at a DFW Outback when they visited the area a few years ago after their home burned. Jason had us rolling with laughter in telling his stories.
He loved his family – ADORED his sons immensely – and worked hard providing the best for them. He was a fantastic dad in that he took time with his boys to develop their interests and was involved in their lives. When I spoke to Jason on his birthday in January, I picked at him about hitting middle-age. I told Jason the Lord only promises us 70 years so, Biblically speaking, middle-age is 35. In his quick wit, he said, “Well, I will have to talk with Poppa to see if I can get a few more years.” (“Poppa” being our 89-year-old Baptist-minister grandpa.) That hour I spent on the phone with him was priceless. Jason mainly talked about his boys. He was so proud of them!!! He shared some of their unique abilities and talents. I told him he had a couple of amazing boys.
I was told about Jason’s Home-going hours after the incident happened but the reality of it did not hit me until I read it on The Times’ website. The horrific way he died plus the fact his two sons have to live life without their dad are what hurts so much. (I very much understand living life without my dad.)
I have gained a great appreciation for this nation’s power line mechanics who work diligently to restore power after the storms. Never again will I complain about being without electrical power no matter the length of the outage. All I pray is for the Lord to surround those guys with HIS safety, protection, strength, and peace.
The peace about this loss is that Jason has seen Jesus! He is enjoying HIM along with his biological grandmothers, Ruth and Aldie, plus his uncles, Jerry and Floyd, along with other believers he knew. Knowing Christ as my Savior, I will see Jason once again. When that time comes, it will be for eternity - praising Jesus together and basking in the joys, riches, and beauty of Home! The assurance of seeing him again makes life bearable until then.

It's been sixteen years since I last saw, or spoke to you, Mr. and Mrs. Burr. I lived in Converse during that time. I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your son, Jason. I remember Karen, while living in Mansfield. It's never an easy time after losing someone so dear to you. There are really no words to say to you that could possibly ease your pain. God is the only One that knows what your family is going through. Embrace Him now more than ever, because He will keep you together, even when you find yourself falling apart. I can't tell you how long your pain will last. For each one it's different. It's been almost sixteen months since my son passed away, and I still hurt over him. But, I will say, without God, I wouldn't be here today. I will keep each of you in my prayers, and ask the Lord to provide you the comfort and strength, you will need to get through this. God bless your entire family, as your loved one now resides with Him.
