Walter Murawski Obituary

Walter Stephen Murawski, 83, of Lebanon, N.J., died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at his home.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station, N.J. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, N.J. Entombment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Annandale, N.J. Visit kearnsfuneralhome.com for more information or to send condolences to the family.
Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., Walter was the son of the late Walter and Marie Murawski. He lived in Lebanon for the past 43 years.
He was a fisheries biologist for the Department of Environmental Protection, division of fish, game & shellfish, for 43 years. He served in the Air Force and the Naval Reserve.
Walter attended Cornell University, where he received a master's degree in ichthyology. He was a member of the American Fishery Society, the New Jersey Audubon Society and Our Lady of Lourdes Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 6930, where he had served as grand knight.
He was a member of Genealogical Society and had been tracing his roots for over 50 years; he was so proud of his Polish heritage. He was a wonderful husband and was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
Walter was predeceased by his sister, Sally Murawski, and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Susan (Schultz) Murawski; son, Matthew Murawski and wife, JoLynn, of Harmony Township, N.J.; daughter, Claire McGill and her husband, John, of Annandale, N.J.; sister, Catherine Brown; five grandchildren, Amanda, Marie, and John McGill Jr., and Morgan and Erika Murawski, as well as many relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
