Carl Weisser Obituary

Published by Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapels - Robbinsdale Chapel on Oct. 7, 2008.
Weisser, Carl H. 83, of Spring Park MN, left this world Saturday, October 4, 2008 after a long courageous battle with several health issues. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas, his mother, Viola, his loving wife, Sonja and sister Ingrid. Carl was born in Bergen, Norway and served in the army as an MP. After the birth of their first son, the family moved to Bismarck North Dakota in 1950. There, they started a new life in the US. Carl worked for The Gold Seal Company and then later started his first upholstery business. He continued in the furniture business most of his life, running several upholstery shops and later opening "Carl's Furniture Barn". His slogan, "You can't beat a deal like that!" was heard on the airwaves for years. Carl and Sonja moved to Minneapolis in 1989, where 2 of their children lived. There, Carl continued limited work in the furniture business and writing a book on his experiences in the war in Norway. The lakes of Minnesota helped to rekindle his love for boating. He spent as much time as he could, working on and motoring his 28'1955 Chris Craft on the Mississippi River and Lake Minnetonka. He was an active member and a past board member of the Bob Speltz Land-O-Lakes chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Club, participating in many boat shows, cruises and other events. Carl's charisma and charm was unmatched, and made him a friend to all. He will be missed by many. He is survived by his children, Thomas Weisser, (Greta), Karen Andrews, (Chris), Susan Mitchell, (William), and Dean Weisser; grandchildren, Jason, Leah, Sarah, Kristy, Jennifer, Stacy, C. J. and great-grandchild Sonja. Services will be held Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 1pm at Presbyterian Homes Court West Atrium on Lake Minnetonka, 4527 Shoreline Drive, Spring Park, MN 55384. Karen, Tom, Susie, and Dean, there are not enough pages to fill with the wonderful memories of your family and Carl. I send my love to you each, I so loved seeing your Dad, and all the funny stories and interests he had. He was very special to my Dad, and they were quite the "wild and crazy guys"! Karen can you send me a current address I have a card for you. Remember now the great reunion in Heaven for Carl and Sonja, and may God bless each of you and your best memories and gifts which God had for you in giving you your Dad. His life was long and had a purpose which is now fullfilled. Love Pam

Condolences from 226 West Ave B where we believe there is still a tree in our front yard which we were told your mother brought from Norway (on a trip?). We thought you would like to know that old neighbors speak kindly of your parents and were sorry to hear of your father's passing.

Hello my old Broadway friends,
I am so sorry to read about the passing of Carl. I may have been very young when we all lived on "Broadway" but I do remember your dad and of course the lovely Sonja. Tom, I hear I missed a good time in August while you and Greta and the Staff's got together at my sister, Joanie's house along with my brother, John. Take care.
