Keith was the UPS delivery and pick up person at the company I still work at. We shared many laughs and stories over the years. I believe our company was the last one he picked up at before what would be his very last stop. Little did we know what would happen in a few more minutes. It was a beautiful Thursday afternoon with a forecast for a beautiful weekend. I had Friday off work for a motorcycle camping trip and before he left we wished each other a good weekend. I often wish I could have kept him for a few minutes longer or somehow stopped him from what was about to about to happen. I think about Keith often. Always miss him when I do. He was a great person. Rest in Peace my friend.

What a wonderful heartfelt message from Mary.
Although I did not know Keith, during the last couple of years I have heard about him through Brent. My thoughts are with him, the family and close friends as it gets close to the anniversary of his death.
Sincerely,

Almost three years ago a clock was ticking that was inaudible to our ears. It was a winding down, a slowing down, counting the days, counting the minutes to when your life would end. Little did we know we were going to say good-bye to such a precious friend. Little did you know how many lives you touched just going about your day. We had no way of knowing that in our lives you wouldn't always stay. I've asked the question why so many times, and also asked if only. I think a part of me will ask those questions until the day I die. I'll bet your having such a time up in Heaven. I'll bet they love your laugh, your easy smile, all the things we loved about you here. I can't help but smile when I remember those things but I must say it also brings a tear. Oh how I wish you were here. I thought at first I couldn't live without you. Unfortunately I've found out that's not true. But there's also part of my heart that aches for you that would say that's not entirely true. Do you think of me? Do you miss me the way that I miss you? Are you watching for me at the gate of Heaven, looking and saying where are you? You were never on time for anything, and wait for you I did. So I guess I can't help but smile as I think of you waiting for me after all the waiting for you I did. I'll miss you every day on earth until the day shall come when we will never part. Because the part of my heart you captured always will be yours as it has been from the start.

I cant believe a year has gone by. I miss you every day here on earth but know you are in a better place! Thinking of your family during this time and may the memories bring them peace. I see your smile in your little grandson and that is precious!

Everytime I see a UPS truck I blow a kiss in memory of you. My heart so yearns for the friendship I had for so many years. I can't believe it's been a year since we said good-bye to you Keith. You will never be forgotten. When my time comes I know you'll be waiting at the gate with arms open wide and smiling your beautiful smile. What a day that will be!

I am deeply saddened by news of Keith's death. I only now found today (1/28/13). I had been out of touch with Keith for 20+ years but he has always been in my thoughts. I was good friends with Keith in high school and we roomed together our first year of college. We also lifted weights together for years. We attended the same church. He was one of the most God loving people I had ever met. And he was never proud or boastful. He was one of the few genuine friends a person could have. I have read much about Keith and heard what people had to say about him, it is obvious he had not changed. I have every confidence Keith is with God. His family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.

A Beautiful Song
Now that your life has come to a close
the best way I can describe it is a beautiful song.
One that I never wanted to end.
Your love for life and your God was the beautiful chorus
that was sung so beautifully in everything you said and did.
The music of your laughter it still rings in my ears.
The verses sing of your love for life, your friends, your family.
The sparkle in your eye was the high note in the day of everyone you came across.
The beauty of your tender heart and the willingness to always lend a hand were the chords that played the loudest in the hearts of those who loved you.
Every note that was played that makes your life such a beautiful memory will forever reverberate in the hearts of those who loved you.
You my beautiful friend, your memory will always be a beautiful song I carry in my heart.

It was a tough week, but I am glad I was able to make the trip back to MN to be with you all in this sad time. I am sorry I didnt get to visit with you Brent, but I was able to visit a bit with Colt and Alissa. Hang in there, be strong and stick together! Taylor and I went to all the memorials in Bryn Mawr and the cemetery on Saturday. You guys picked a perfect place to lay him to rest, with a gorgeous view of the territory he loved...although he has a view of everything now :) He will be lovingly remembered for all the lessons he taught us and will be guiding us along our paths forever!

We know Keith is in heaven . . . not by the way he lived . . . but by Whom he lived for . . . JESUS CHRIST!! "For it is by grace alone- you have been saved- through faith, not from yourselves- it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast." ~Ephesians 2:8-9 / "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." ~John 3:14 / Jesus answered, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” ~John 14:6

It is quite an honor to call Keith, 'my cousin'!! -Reading all of the neat comments (over the past week from people in news articles, the guest book, & listening to all the stories family & friends shared at his funeral) really shows the kind of good-hearted man he was!! He truly was a 'Man of God', and such a GREAT example for us all to live as Christ would want us too! We have had a lot of fond childhood memories as first cousins, but unfortunately over the years we have lost touch! This saddens me greatly, as I wish I could have known him through his adult life! He is very much an inspiration to me, and will forever live in my heart :) Until we meet again . . . Love your cuz, Jeannine **I would also like to tell the family (Aunt Cleo, Sandy, Pam, Buddy, Jeff & David) how neat it was to catch-up with them all both Wed. & Thurs., and that we will be praying for them all (& for Keith's children) for the strength- that ONLY GOD CAN GIVE to get them through this very difficult time, and the FAITH to help them to 'keep going' in spreading God's LOVE & GRACE to all!!! We also send our love to Uncle Harold:) Love~ Jeannine (Roffers)VandenHeuvel, Brian,& Family

Keith,
I worked at ProColor back before Thomas Repro took over in 2004 and I remember that you serviced us at ProColor on 9th and Hennepin.
You always walked in with a big smile and left the same way.

I have known Keith since I was 12 and he 14. Keith has been one of my closest friends almost my entire life. I can't imagine living in a world where he does not exist. Saying good-bye to him at his funeral yesterday was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I read a poem at his funeral yesterday and even though I know his big humble heart would be embarrassed by all the fuss I'm going to share another.
It is your smile that I remember
It's what I carry in my heart
This is what I'll always remember
Even though we had to part
In your countenance the light was always shining
From someplace deep within
The joy that lighted the pathways around you
For the ones you loved to always find strength in.
Why you had you had to go
Who's to say, Who's to know?
We all loved you oh so dearly
and had to say good-bye oh so quickly.
Your parting it took our breath away
But like a dove with grace and beauty
we watched you fly away.
In time our heartache will lessen
Remembering won't cause so much pain.
We'll smile in knowing you'll be watching
Over us in the sunshine and the rain.
Like a guardian angel you spent your time on earth
taking care of those around you.
Now your surrounded by all the loved ones gone before you.
Good-bye dear Keith good-bye.
In our hearts you'll always be.
An angel with the most beautiful smile you'll always be to me.

Words cannot express our sadness regarding the loss of such a wonderful human being due this terrible, senseless tragedy. We are shocked and numb at the thought that he was taken so suddenly. Keith was also our UPS driver at IMS and although our company recently moved, I had the opportunity to see him once again in the last couple of weeks. Keith stopped to say hello and said that he missed having us on his route. He was always so nice to have around and always such a genuine, caring person. We will forever miss his smiling, happy face and pleasant, upbeat personality as well…the world has lost a terrific guy and Heaven gained a very special angel. Our sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of a truly great person who touched countless lives and will be missed by so many every day.

Keith made deliveries to our family about once a week. Our children called him "The nice UPS guy" and would always run to the door to say hi. Whenever they see a UPS truck they wave frantically to say Hi to Keith. He always would hop out of his truck with a sparkle in his eye, full of energy. He is one of those amazingly kind, special people that are one in a million. We will miss him so very much.

I still can't believe it! I miss him so much... for someone that you just saw casually on a daily basis, delivering packages to my showroom at IMS, it speaks volumes and is a testiment to him, how he could touch my life so deeply. I think of him and miss him each and every day. He was one amazing human being who made such a positive influence on us all and makes us all really focus on what's REALLY important in life. He was truly a legacy....

To the Basinski family: on behalf of the employees at Minneapolis Public Schools' Department of Plant Operations and Transportation Services, Keith will forever remain in our hearts as one of "the good guys" who went above and beyond in his service to mankind. He allowed us to get to know him by his smile, wonderful personality, and kind words whenever he made a delivery to our workplace. The greatest gift to mankind is a friend...what a treasure he was.

Dear Basinski Family & Friends –
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I too knew Keith through his deliveries at IMS. He was always so sweet, I think he tried to remember everyone's names and felt badly when he didn't. I may not have known him well but I do know he will be greatly missed here. This morning on my way into work I saw a billboard down the street that says, “We will miss you Keith”. I sincerely hope it gives you some comfort in knowing that he obviously touched a lot of lives in a very positive way that will not be forgotten.
My heart is with you on this very sad day and those to come. - Jennifer

Keith was an important part of our business for so many years. I own a DVD authoring business where we design and produce DVD's for feature films and popular TV shows. We are always racing against the clock to get our shipments done on time. We were his last stop of the day and often we'd be in a panic to get the UPS labels on our packages. He would smile and say, "I'm going to di some paperwork". He would work with our schedule and saved us so many times. He was the nicest guy. FedEx would always call to say, "What can we do to win your business". I would say, "Nothing, Keith works for UPS and there is no one better." He will be missed.

I mean every single day. He has brighten this world and I'm Sure a soul Like his will continue to Bring us love and Light. sincerely...... Peter

To the Basinski family: I knew Keith from my years at First Assembly of God in Green Bay. He and Jeff were such a huge part of the youth group there and also at North Central. What an awesome, gentle spirit he had. He was always smiling
and such a sweetheart to be around. I just remember him always being so joyful and he exuded such kindness. I am so sorry for your loss and I am praying for you that the comfort of the Holy Spirit will wrap His love around your hearts and minds. What a beloved man who went the extra mile for all of his customers! I work at a showroom in IMS and when Keith would miss me for deliveries and then saw me returning; he would run to the neighboring showroom and bring me back our packages after our neighbors signed for them! He always had a smile whenever I saw him. When I met up with him and his truck in the loading dock area, he said not to worry as he would never run me over! Keith, you will be sorely missed, my heart goes out to your family and friends, may you be remembered for the great legacy you left behind in this world. IMS will never be the same without you!

Keith was our neighbor and close friend for 22 years. He was genuine, loving, thoughtful and always had a smile. He loved a practical joke and his Green Bay Packers. He would come to our house when the Vikings were playing the Packers and bring a jersey in honor of each team. He would wear purple and gold the first half and green and gold the second half. He will be sorely missed and our lives are changed forever here on earth. We look forward to walking streets of gold with him someday when he meets us in heaven.

I have known Keith through my job at West Weld Supply. Like everyone has said he always had a big smile and a great personality. We would talk about the Green Bay Packers, since my wife was born 3 blocks from Lambeau Field. Keith was a hard worker. You could tell that he has a personal relationship with Jesus. I know that it is so hard to see him go home, but we will see him later.

His Smile Forever Be Remember
His smile will forever be remembered.
His smile touched many who knew him.
Jesus lived within Keith and that's what made him smile.
Pain, despair, and hurt, never stopped him from smiling.
When you feel blue Jesus can put joy your upon your face.
A smile is not always easy at times, but with God it is possible.
He had a way to show love by reaching out to others.
When a brother, a sister, or a friend struggled, he would lift them up through words of encouragement.
He had the gift of service from God. He went his way to offer kindness and support to his neighbors.
In his absence, remember his smile.
Thank you for your smile; we will cherish you throughout our days on earth.
He will be remembered for his gentle spirit by his loved ones.
His love and friendship will forever live in our hearts.

Dear Basinski Family - I knew Keith for many many years as our UPS driver at A.H. Bennett, but he was also a friend. I met Keith in college when he and my sister were friends. He had such a contagious smile and to see his picture now, I can still see the same Keith I knew back then. To us, he was taken too soon and we will never know why. Knowing that someday there will be a great reunion in heaven will have to carry us through this difficult and heartbreaking time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time and please take comfort in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father and know that his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched during his short time here.

Keith was the regular UPS driver for my work place, CenterPoint Energy. Every morning he would bring the day's deliveries, announcing his arrival with a cheerful "He-e-ey, it's UPS." Every afternoon he would return to collect our outgoing shipments. He loved his job; he was always diligent, professional and well organized. He was an absolute day brightener, even on the worst and most annoying days. And he meant it, too - he really was a happy and gracious man who enjoyed people. We will miss him terribly. Our condolences to his family, his friends, and to all at UPS.

He was so awesome.........he would 'skip' to our door, in the worse of the weather, and cheerfully exclaim, "UPS!!" And when I would catch him running up the sidewalk, I would run to the door door just to try and get a ray of his ever=resent sunshine. Oh, he was SO special!! I can't believe that someone with so much life could be gone. Life is not fair!!!! I will miss him forever. He was an AWESOME person.

My heart goes out to all of Keith's Family and Friends. Anyone who knew him in this life was blessed by his big smile and contatgious, positive spirit. No job was too big for him and he delivered every package with a smile. Keith was as happy to deliver the packages as we were to get them. He treated each package with tender love and care and always gave an optimum level of service, never acted tired, cranky or put upon. He was sunshine on two legs and you were happy to see him even if he was delivering goods to someone elses house. He was loved by all and will be missed. Keith was by far one of the most delightful people anyone could ever meet. Although he has been taken from us we will see him again because he is now in our future. God Bless you Keith and Thank you for crossing my path, and God Bless your Family and Friends....You will Be Missed and Remembered by all who knew you.

He has the most beautiful eyes & smile. Hold on to that memory. Keith definitely didn't look 50 years old. We send our prayers & love. God Bless!

I have worked at IMS, one of the long held stops on Keith's route, for over 10 yrs. In reading the many tributes and blessing about "Our UPS Man' Keith, I echo every syllable uttered about his kindness, warmth, sharpness and humor. He was a rare gem, and I feel lucky to have been an acquaintance of his over the years. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones. He was absolutely adored by the community. We will miss him so very much. Bless.

My heart goes out to the family of Keith and hope that their hearts heal over this tragic loss. Keith was our UPS man for the 30yrs we lived in Harrison neighborhood, next to Bryn Mawr. When I saw the news that a UPS driver had been a victim of this shooting, my hearts sank and tears welled up.
Such a nice man. Ready smile. Saw my children grow up. He first delivered to our house when our daughter was less than a year old. After she moved to NYC he would ask about her. He would remark that he had seen our son walking and 'how tall is getting'. He was will to go the extra mile. If we weren't going to be home, he would always put our package in safe place that only we knew about. He would walk away with a bounce in his step and that smile.
Amazing what an impact one man can make in so many lives. That says a lot.

Dear Basinski Family,
Keith was a "one-of-a-kind" irreplaceable guy! During our college days at NCBC (now NCU), he was like a brother to me and we had a lot of goofy & funny times together. I will always remember the hilarious times with Jeff, Keith, David, & the other "Green Bay" colleagues. I always was made to feel like a part of their family on my trips to their home in Green Bay. I am truelly feeling the loss of my dear friend and "brother". My heart goes out to Buzz & Cleo, Keith's kids and siblings. My thoughts and prayers are continually with you during this time and in the days ahead. Keith's friendship, humor, smile, and ability to make everyone he met feel like someone special will be greatly missed.
May you all feel God's arms tenderly and securely wrapped around you.

There are times when the problems of the world cause me to stop and wonder how any of us can possibly make sense of things. Keith was and still is a shining example of how one person can have a positive impact on his or her own little world. He will be greatly missed.

To the Basinski Family,
Your Dad and I worked together for years at UPS. He was the driver for many of my customers and always a primary reason for winning and keeping the business. He became my friend and over the years he would come running into the Blaine Soccer Complex to catch a glimps of the kids playing.
My heart is sick for your loss and the organization is one less greater today with out him!
His love for God his family and UPS is second to none and is a tragic loss to us all!

Dear Basinski Family,
It has been over forty years that I have been connected to your family through the rare and wonderful friendship that Sandy and I share.
I have had limited visits with Keith through the years- weddings and graduations mostly- yet his special place in the family has always been clear to me. I know that his spirit of hope, thoughtfulness and kindness, as well as his smile were a witness to many of his deep faith in Christ. Many have mentioned that here and it is beautiful to see the impact of a single life well-lived.
I understand, having lost people I love dearly, the emptiness that is left behind. I know now and have experienced the promise that our spirits live forever as I know now that those I love are with me always - and they continue to impact my life for the good. All our love and prayers as you walk this journey of grief and loss. The Lord, your best memories of Keith and your friends will be your comfort. You will never be alone. Hope to see you soon and share hugs, tears and memories of Keith.

To Keith's Family:
Keith was our UPS delivery guy for many years at our mortgage company on S. Wayzata blvd. In our business, we saw Keith nearly every day. After a while we talked and what a really great guy he was. He always had a smile on his face and must have truly loved his work. When I saw his face on TV last Thursday/Friday I could not believe that someone would ever hurt such a friendly, genuinely good guy. He was the first person many of us saw each day aside from co-workers. And every time he brightened your day. In an era when everyone is in such a hurry and disinterested in others, Keith was a shining star. The world has lost a very good man. UPS was lucky to have him as an employee. May God bless him and your entire family.
With Deepest Sympathy,

There are few people who go through life making everyone they come in contact with, feel good. Keith was one of those rare individuals. He never had a bad word to say about anything. Always upbeat and smiling. A principled man of faith and character. When something so utterly senseless like this happens, i find myself asking God "how can this happen?" I can only take comfort in knowing that Keith was a man of great faith. We will miss him here at 2523 Wayzata Blvd (Tom James). The world needs more people like Keith. He was special. My heartfelt condolences to his family, and all that knew him.

I knew Keith from ECC's Royal Rangers program. He was a fellow Commander, Christian friend and a Joyful soul. His smile, cheerful outlook and righteousness were contagious. we shared many stories on Sunday mornings over coffee and doughnuts. He always had a knack of listening and giving insight in ways unique and treasured. I will miss you, my friend! Save a place for me and my family :)

I didn't know you personally, only the presence of your easy smile and quick stride. You delivered to our house for over 10 years and consistently had a positive impact. I was always glad it was you coming up the steps even if I wasn't able to acknowledge you every time. It's bizarre, shocking, and sad to lose this special something that has been unique and nice to our home and this neighborhood. You are gone from such tragic circumstances and I it's hard to wrap my head around that.
May your memory be a blessing and your family and friends find some peace during their mourning.

Keith was one of my sister's dearest friends, and although I met him only briefly, I knew what a special person he was. His son spent some time visiting my family in Ohio, and my heart goes out to him and his siblings. The entire family is in my heart and prayers, and may he rest in peace.

Keith had an amazing Spirit and will forever me missed, we were so blessed to have know such a kind person. He graced us daily with his glowing smile, love of our Lord and are truly confident that he left a legacy of mercy, grace and peace that comes from the Lord! What a honor to know that as little as we did know him personally that he left us with a hint of God's gift for us all. We can only imagine what he left for those who knew him more. Our prayers go out to Keith's family and pray for God's loving arms to carry them through this difficult time and that they understand the beautiful legacy he left. As 22+ year residents of Bryn Mawr, and like so many others have written, Keith was our UPS delivery man. He's delivered countless packages to our home over the years. I was struck by his friendliness and ever present smile. We would often chat for a moment or two when he came by - I will miss that.

I was saddened when I heard the news about Keith. Not only was he my neighbor, but he was a friend. He impacted not only my life but both my sons as well. He always had a smile on his face and was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time. Keith was one of my best friends in the whole world for the past 12 years. Our sons were best friends. We raised our kids together and just became grandparents within a month of one another. He taught me so much about faith and life. We could talk about anything, he was there for me thru thick and thin with words of wisdom and encouragement. This is just so hard to believe. He is (and always was) in Gods hands! It does not surprise me to see all of the lives he has touched just by his sweet personality, sense of humor, bright eyes and smile and his helping hand. My heartfelt prayers go out to the whole family...love you guys!

To the Keith Basinski Family ~
I knew him a long time ago thru a friend and he was a very true gentleman of God. Then years later, a month ago recently, I was on my way to Pleasant View Deaf Assembly (PVDA) to give a sermon, I passed by and saw him outside and yelled "HEY KEITH... YOU LOOKIN' GOOD...HOW ARE YOU DOING? NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN...." and he smiled immensely and waved. I just loved seeing him smile... his smile was very infectiously as he did touch everyone's lives - a smile that would tickle our souls to smile even more or a chuckle.
May the Lord take real good care of you all, all of you have my deepest sympathy with love and prayers. Remember, in Psalms 23:6 said, "Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Keith is Home with the Lord very safely and protected and yes, he will be and is very sorely missed by all of us. His smiles and love shall be cherished as we hold on to fond memories we all shared with. Thank you, Keith for the great friendship with us all and we will see you soon.
My love and prayers go with you in time of comfort - be thinking of you all...

Keith was our UPS delivery man. He always smiled. I know life isn't fair, but it isn't fair that he's gone. He was just doing his job and now he's gone. He will be missed. I am so sorry that his family has to go through the pain of losing someone they love.

Dear Family of Keith. No words can ever express my sympathy for all of you. I feel it too. Keith and I first met when I was the mailroom person at 2800 Wayzata Blvd. It was then the Quest location. He was not only MY UPS driver, but we became very good friends. Keith was there for me when I suddenly lost my son Chad at the tender age of 33yrs. We had a strong bond and we both loved seeing one another on a day to day basis. When the holidays came around Keith would always know that there would be a bag of my homemade peanut brittle waiting for him with his name on it. My heart is heavy just as all of yours, but know that he is at peace with God along with my son Chad. I would love to talk with any of you if you would like to. My love and prayers go out to you all. Kieth was the most wonderful man. He always had a smile, and a twinkle in his eye, when he came into our showroom to make deliveries. It is so hard to believe that such a wonderful person has left this Earth so quickly, and way before his time. I will always remember him for the great person that he was, and still is, in my memories.
To his Family: My thoughts and prayers go out to you daily.

My deepest condolences to all members of the Basinski's family. Keith's son Brent was a friend of our son Ryan's in highschool. We spent many days sitting on the benches at Spring Lake Park Highschool watching our kids play baseball together. Never a game was missed by Keith as he showed up right from work in his UPS uniform. He was a wonderful man, always upbeat and happy. May his family find comfort and peace in knowing that Keith was a great man and he will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
