Gerald James Basinski

Gerald "Jerry" J. Basinski passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Gerald was born November 7, 1942, in Stevens Point; son of the late Leo & Johanna (Wrycza) Basinski. Gerald lived his entire life in Rosholt, WI. He graduated from Rosholt High School in 1960.
On October 3, 1964, Gerald married Helen Wysocki at St Mary's Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher. Gerald and Helen were blessed with three children, Kurt, Karl and Christine "Tina". Gerald purchased the family farm from his parents, thus keeping the farm in the Basinski family for over 100 years. He spent his entire life farming; first as a dairy operation and in later years, as a small scale potato operation. He loved working the fields with his John Deere tractors and having the help of his grandsons who were always available when he called for a helping hand.
When Gerald had spare time he enjoyed fishing with his family or friends. He enjoyed watching the Brewers but mostly enjoyed riding the fields with his four-wheeler.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Helen; his sons, Kurt (Sara) Basinski and Karl (Dawn) Basinski; his daughter, Tina (Wade) Brandl; his grandchildren, Krista (Cody) Tesch, Dylan Basinski, Michael (Anji Polski) Basinski, Jeremy (Emily) Brandl, Jenna (Justin Schmeltzer) Brandl, Alex Basinski; and the light of his life, his three great-granddaughters, Austyn and Bryanna Tesch, and Hadley Brandl.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters; making him the last of the six children to join their parents.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
A private family service for Gerald will be held at a later date.
