GEORGE ELWOOD
PEDDLE, 82

LAKELAND - George Elwood, 82, of Lakeland, FL and formerly of Exeter, RI, died peacefully of respiratory failure, on May 30, 2009 at Lakeland Medical Center, Lakeland, FL surrounded by his loving family.
He was a distinguished WWII veteran serving proudly in the US Navy in the South Pacific.
Born in Chelsea, MA a son of the late George and Irene (Perham) Peddle, he lived in Rhode Island for 50 years, then retiring to Florida in 1986.
He is survived by his wife of sixty one years; Naomi R. Peddle, a daughter, Linda R. Holtzinger and her husband James of New York, a son, Jeffrey A Peddle and his wife Melanie of Foxborough, MA, a predeceased son, David George Peddle of San Diego, CA., a sister Anne Lafferty of Lakeland, FL and a brother David Peddle of North-borough, MA. He was a devoted and cherished grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of three. His compassion and love with sorely be missed by his family.
George was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Kingstown in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Private services will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of North Kingstown.
