Fred Boes Obituary

Sept. 24, 1917 - Sept. 23, 2010

Longtime Solano County resident Fred Boes Jr., 93, passed away on Sept. 23 at home surrounded by family, following a brief illness.

He leaves his wife of 67 years, Florence (Leardini) Boes; daughters, Patricia (Allen) Parenteau and Pam Boes; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jeremy) Moseley, Kristen (Claudiu) Cioloca, Karin (Justin) Pacheco and Kent Boes; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous relatives.

He was born and raised in San Francisco, the son of Fred and Helene (Buchholz) Boes.

He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Fred Boes; and five brothers and sisters.

In 1942, while working at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, he met his wife. He was later an accountant for 40 years, retiring after 25 years with Sheldon Oil Company.

He was an avid sportsman, playing baseball for many years. He was a longtime golfer, bowler and camper/fisherman. He was also a "Golden Gloves" boxer.

A prayer service will be held today at 1 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel. Father Ruel Mesa will be officiating.
