James Fredrick Bender Jr.

James Bender Obituary

May 17, 1932- October 15, 2010 Jim was born in Port Arthur, TX where he lived until entering the United States Marine Corp. Upon returning from a tour of Korea he met his wife of 57 years, Dorothy. The things he was most proud of were his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, being a Marine, and his time in the Teamsters Union as a member and a shop steward. Many people in the area will remember him most as the man wearing the blue coat and the red Marine Corp. hat. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; sisters Frances Bever and Gay Lay; his children Debbie and Len, Diana and Don, Dori and David (Munch), James F. III, Mark and Cara; his grandchildren Derik Gaspari, Dara Bender, James and Christina Walker, Jessica Dee, Leslie Ballew and Rob Lawson; his great grandchildren Alix, Jaylin, Keeli, Micaya, Jake and Robbie; plus many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at Pierce Mortuary Chapel in Eureka October 21, 2010 at 2:00 PM. A graveside will be held at Golden Gate National Cemetery; time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the charity of your choice in James' name.
