Laura Regan Obituary

Born September 20, 1952 and passed away October 22, 2010 at the age of 58 with her husband at her side. She fought a vicious battle and courageous battle for four years with stage 4 breast cancer and defied the odds until finally she got tired and her angels took her hand and guided on her final journey. She was diagnosed with it in October 2006 and was given 2 days to a week to live; boy did she show them how wrong they were. She was born in Eureka and was a 4th generation resident. She attended Cutten schools and graduated from Eureka High School and from College of the Redwoods. She worked for the H.S. Forest Service in personnel on two different occasions. She owned and operated Allure Jewelers in Old Town from 1995 to April 30, 2007 when she was forced to close due to the Cancer. The store was her passion and her customers benefited from her unique ability to design and select color gems and diamonds suiting their needs. She was an active member of Old Town Merchants and built trust and friendships among them. Each year she looked forward to going to the JCK International Jewelry Convention in Las Vegas. In June 2002 she married the love of her life, Dan Regan. Together they enjoyed traveling. Her most favorable highlight was an Alaskan Inside Passage Cruise with a stop in Sitka to visit with friends. She was previously married and has a son Dustin L. Madsen. She was preceded in death by her father Jay Harris (May, 2009), mother Patricia (May, 2005). She is survived by; husband Dan, son Dustin, brother Tom (Karen), uncle Les Ambrosini, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Laura would like to recognize the following that helped her with her battle: Dr. Suryadevara and her staff at EIM Oncology, Dr. Connor at EFP, and recently Nurse Scotty and aids Robert and Chantry of Hospice. A special thanks to Dr. John E. Biteman for his professional expertise in finding the cancer where others failed. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society (Breast Cancer Research) and/or Hospice of Humboldt County. Funeral arrangements will be at Sander Funeral Home, 1835 E Street, Eureka with a viewing on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 10 to 12 noon, then on to Sunset Memorial Park for the cryptside service at 1 p.m. before being laid to rest.
