I'm shocked of your sudden loss. Jay was one of the finest guys I knew. Jay trained me a the Richmond Hyatt in the late 80's as a room service waiter. He was so fun to work with, and he had patience, and that was a great quality Jay had. I'm so sorry, and I'll pray for your wonderful family. He also was a great friend of mine.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with both of your during these difficult days ahead. I have so many fond memories of JM in high school. He never met a stranger, always had a smile on his face and was so thoughtful and kind to everyone. We will never forget this wonderful athletic skills. I can still see him on the NSA courts, hanging out in the nurses office and laughing on all our evening adventures. Your loss is our loss and our class has really rallied around his life. I am so sad and already missing my suite mate at Randolph-Macon in 1978. Stuart, Steve M and I had such fun together in Irby! JM was always upbeat, laughing, concerned, and just fun to be with. Those memories will always be here even though he is with God. See you soon one day, JM!

Dear Tina and Sarah,
I am a friend of JM's from NSA, and I'm deeply saddened to learn of his passing. I saw JM one day in the 90's at NSA. We fondly recalled all the friends we both knew as well as some truly awesome moments in NSA's storied basketball history. But the thing I remember most was how much he loved his family. JM was a few classes ahead of me in high school and I remember thinking he was the coolest, nicest guy, tall and kind. He always had a warm smile for everyone and was friends with so many. I am deeply saddened for your loss and send love and prayers to you all as you heal.

We are so shocked and saddened by this tragic loss! JM and my brother, Mark, were the best of friends throughout high school and college. I cannot remember a weekend, basketball game, vacation, etc... growing up that JM wasn't a part of. I will be attending tomorrow representing our family as Mark now lives outside Chicago and my mom is unable to make the trip. All our thoughts and prayers go out to JM's entire family!

I was greatly saddened when I saw JM's obituary in the newspaper today. I have many fond memories of our times together at R-MC and in later years. He was one of those people about whom everyone always said "He is a really nice guy." As his photo here shows, he had a smile that could light up a room.
